Before each election, CA law requires that we run test decks of ballots to confirm that the machines are reading ballots correctly (logically) and compiling results correctly (accurately). Testing for the November 3, 2026, General Election begins 9/30 at 10am in the Elections Center in SLO.

Historically, primary election turnout is lower than turnout for a general election, but SLO County voters definitely have reason to be proud this cycle. Of 58 California counties, SLO had the 8th highest turnout -- and only one of the top 10 counties had a comparable number of registered voters.
56% voter turnout in SLO County as of June 16, ranking 8th highest out of 58 counties with a 41% statewide average.Voter turnout percentages and registered voter counts for ten counties as of June 16th, with Marin leading at 61% turnout and SLO at 56%.
