Oh it was called Blendle apparently and no longer does that.

This.. actually exists but I forget what the app that does exactly that is called. But it's definitely a thing

Yeah "gee I wonder why he didn't want to have a full conversation about this on the fly from some random person, must be some kind of moral failing on his part"
060
Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 7h
I mean the relevant part is really slow *cheap* cruise missiles but yeah

They're gonna be so mad when he wins and it undermines their talking points

And like a society really should acknowledge the harms in their past because we all really, REALLY have them, but I think that's kinda something you cannot force on people, it's something they have to realize on their own. You can't fix pain by causing more pain. It just does not work

Now - the new generation can make terrible choices that make their own mark, and what's happened since October 7th absolutely counts as that for both, but we can't constantly litigate how we got here. The only path forward is for both sides to look forward.

And what that means here is that it is not appropriate to blame the Israeli people for the decisions made in the 1950s just like it's not ok to blame young Palestinians for the election of Hamas in the early 2000s. And yeah, that basically means I don't blame either side for where they are

Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 15h
I think the thing that really makes it hard, with my morals, is my belief that you absolutely cannot blame a new generation for the last generation's choices.

Eventually I'll probably migrate to the open stuff once it gets as good but right now it's nice to just be able to fire the Opus 5.5 cannon at everything, cause it's cheap enough that I can do that and it's good enough that it works pretty much every time

Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 15h
Yeah I feel that. I've been sticking with Claude even though I know it's probably not the most efficient use of my money because it's well above the "is it useful enough to be worth it" level for right now and I can't be switching back and forth all the time

At this point there's gotta be enough salvaged Shaheds from Ukraine and our war in their intel storage to make one or two right? Oh that's not what they meant?

Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 05/10/2026
Already is, kinda, most people (NOT lotax, for the record) defending it *definitely* have that vibe
110
Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 05/10/2026
Oh right yeah I forgot about that happening. That's not great either

(Clanker is complicated because it's like.. from Star Wars, I assume is the actual origin? but also sounds really close to another one used on humans)
100
Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 05/10/2026
I mean there's also the origin of a lot (all?) of these AI "slurs", which.. feels more like trying to find a way to say regressive things without mom yelling at you than an actual attempt to voice frustration at the thing itself.

Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 05/10/2026
Yeah this was my take on like that recent AI torture thing. Torture is bad because it makes your soul sick and damages your morality. It's also very bad for the subjects. If they happen to be alive (animals or humans for example) that's so much worse. But it's still really bad for the torturer

Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 04/10/2026
Like the gf seems to be mostly focused on not having *him* go do the same thing, which, honestly, is probably a real risk here. Mom seems to be trying to turn it into a conspiracy, meanwhile the guy himself seems to be really regretful over everything. 3 very different ways of dealing with it
1280
Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 04/10/2026
FWIW after reading that, imo, the mom comes away looking much worse than the girlfriend. Girlfriend seems to be trying to keep him from blaming himself for Pierre's death *specifically*, mom seems to be trying to make excuses for the voting too

Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 02/10/2026
Yeah AIUI this is very much a US phenomenon which means me think this is more "insane people in Silicon Valley leadership positions" instead of something about the tech. On the other hand, the tech likely makes that worse.

Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 01/10/2026
Right it was a combination of bad ideas and stubbornness plus a bit of "I have to stand out or I'll lose my election" which may or may not have been entirely the case but was definitely something he believed. ... And he was *still* better than Fetterman by like a mile
060
Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 01/10/2026
And the times when they *do* end up pressured against their positions are usually pretty obvious because they typically shut up and vote against something they support very quietly

Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 01/10/2026
*Googles* ah, pre WWI. Welp. At least I got early 20th century right lol
010
Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 01/10/2026
Gonna be honest as someone who I think got better than average history classes as a kid.. uh.. I.. it was early 20th century.. after WWI? I think? Might have been a precursor to WWII? Uh.. definitely.. not something I'm overly familiar with...
110
Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 01/10/2026
Huh that's weird and with all those bases they're renaming after slavers you'd have thought he'd remember i ohhhhhhhhh I see

Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 01/10/2026
Well and like there's a certain bit of the scorpion and the frog for the creditors too because like if we *do* somehow get to default stage uh do you really wanna pull that trigger and take the global economy out from under you?
000
Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 01/10/2026
Like who, of the congressional Republicans, would put their life on the line for Trump? Especially now. They all hate the guy they're just too cowardly to be the first one to say it. That brings strength but weakness too, because it means there's really only so far they'll go.
000
Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 01/10/2026
Interesting thought experiment though, as long as we all kinda agree to start with that "This Is Probably A Very Bad Idea" lol
010
Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 01/10/2026
Yeah I figured that's probably where it was coming from

Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 01/10/2026
Counterpoint - Is there a meaningful difference between Nuremburg and the Dachau liberation reprisals?
000
Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 01/10/2026
I see where you're coming from but I think that would maximally incentivize the poor guy who's ended up in the role to make absolutely sure that he never leaves, or only does on his terms
120
Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 01/10/2026
Best outcome is they get shuffled off to some random project and manage to spend like 100k to slap 2 gimbal cameras to a DJI Mavic instead of 1 right?
000
Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 01/10/2026
Wait are sankey charts the new loss meme? Maybe for a specific subset of extremely online brain damaged people at least?

Oh you got em Gav, that was a good one ha ha

Ma'am, I need you to be careful how you use this power. Some day, all images on bsky will need to succumb, and you will know your moment. (Nah happy for you though!!)
000
Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 01/10/2026
Oh ok that actually explains a lot though, especially the recent turn from "fairly edgy but ok lefty" to "nope don't like that one bit"
0303
Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 01/10/2026
Yeah I mean like. I. Does making it more humane dull the horror of it? Does it matter to the person moments from death? Is abolishing it even feasible? All questions I wish I didn't have to think about.
000
Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 01/10/2026
Ohio. (But uh definitely Texas because I think that will mentally scar the GOP for generations. Even more if we nab like Nebraska or Kansas or one of the stretch goals)

Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 01/10/2026
And gradle. Oh God gradle. I spent HOURS getting the Android app template to build without errors and never quite got it working right (I think it only built from a specific shell session if I ran a specific command?)

I no what you meant. Yeah but what we're kinda discussing is a hypo and those laws could really be changed if we cared about doing it humanely.
120
Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 01/10/2026
Yeah it's weird because it seems like we've figured out how to do it with pets. Guess it's too much of a challenge to adapt that to humans. Or maybe there's something else at play.
110
Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 01/10/2026
Guess I should clarify, does that without an actual mandate. And the mandate isn't a perfect analogy to the will of the people but it's a hell of a lot better than nothing and probably the bare minimum
000
Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 01/10/2026
Any time a group purports to use violence to speak for the whole, that's corrosive I think
100
Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 01/10/2026
Worth nothing re the original discussion that this is why that kind of "what do we do with them" has to happen after a political upheaval. No matter what the choice is. Cause otherwise we're committing our own capital crime against the state and are likely to etc etc

Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 01/10/2026
Also it's really hard to make him into a hero, while Kirk did that whole two-sided "I'm just a polite young man who wishes to ask some questions" schtick and had some people who only knew that side of him
020
Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 01/10/2026
I actually think Miller's even worse off than Kirk because even on his side only the real sickos even know who he is. Kirk was at least sorta famous on his own and had a following, such as it was.

Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 30/09/2026
Which, I mean, "acting ghoulish and talking about ethnic cleansing and stuff while also fucking him over personally" is the kind of combination that does that, but still!
092
Sloosecannon @sloosecannon.io · 30/09/2026
And this is even more impressive when you consider Biden's past strongly held convictions of "support Israel" and how stubborn he was. His opinion on them flipped pretty quick, which.. is not an easy task to do!

"Elon boosted a highly offensive reply and "accidentally" attributed it to a left-leaning mayor who's faced antisemitism accusations" might seem like a bit of a conspiracy but is it though?
