My maternity leave doesn't end until mid April next year, but I'm finishing up the second of two keeping in touch days back at work and I will say I have a brand new understanding for why people become stay at home parents. Leaving Bebe at home has been ROUGH 😭😭

My family and i are participating in a fundraising walk in a few weeks for the hospice that cared for my dad, and did a practise run today. It's only 5 miles but I haven't walked 5 miles since before Bebe was born and my god the c section is still doing a number on me 🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠

Managed to get the Bebe into a really sought after local forest school nursery for next year and I'm so happy. They have acres of private woodland, an actual forest school practitioner for the pre-school year, and a really lovely emphasis on outside play and learning 🥰

My 4 month old has been on nap strike since her hospital stay, refusing anything more than 3 x 30 minute naps a day (30 mins on the DOT. Every time.) she fell asleep on me an hour and 17 minutes ago and is still going. I don't know what to do other than remain trapped here indefinitely 🥲

Thought the baby looked a little grey around the mouth this morning. 12 hours, an ambulance ride, a chest x-ray, blood tests, and 3 attempts at an ecg later we're doing a cheeky little overnight in pediatrics because they've detected a little heart murmur and want to monitor 😭

Thank you for all your love and support on Friday for dad. It was an equal parts horrible but wonderful day, saying goodbye but doing it with so many people who loved him. Now just have to live the best life we can without him in the world 💔

My dad's funeral is today. He was a brilliant, funny, creative, compassionate man, who loved the outdoors, having a little project on the go, always having a sweet treat with dinner, his beloved Brighton and Hove Albion, and a beer on a Friday. I love him enormously, and miss him tremendously.

Celebrating my lovely late dad today with one of my favourite memories of childhood with him: steamed sponge pudding in the microwave. Because why steam for 2 hours on the hob when you can microwave for "4 minutes plus a second or two" 🥰

Not all babies are carbon copies of their parents but taking my daughter into the garden and letting her look at the trees to try and break the witching hour insanity has not yet failed me. Sometimes you just gotta look at some trees and feel instant calm.
