Streaming this weekend went pretty good. Got the unix domain socket working, processing the binary data (from a text file for the moment) and for my stream render display to show the chat message. Communication and message background improvements needed. That's for Saturday! Have a good week!
Static image showing side-by-side comparison of Chat Window v1 from my On Stream Twitch Notifications using NodeGui and Chat Window v2 from my Stream Display Render using Godot which will eventually completely replace the On Stream Twitch Notifications.

v2 of the Chat Window is less featured as it is currently being developed but is able to receive data needed from the unix domain socket to display a message.

v1 currently showing multiple messages received while streaming from Twitch. v2 currently in development showing a single message with text and animated emotes.

Streaming this weekend wasn't too bad. Got an initial idea of what I want the chat message Fly in animation to be for the chat window prototype in Godot and setup an initial viewport that handles the text and emotes better than the current setup (height fix on Saturday!) Have a good week!
Screenshot of the chat window prototype that now uses a viewport to display rendered messages - currently only text fragments are being shown. Changing the height of the viewport causes the view to disappear.

Before I go here's some videos showing the message sliding in from the left hand side of the screen. @crazy-stewie.bsky.social suggested a couple of things before I had to disappear at the end of today's stream. First one is a simple slide in from the left.

Streaming this weekend went pretty good. I think I've fixed all but one of the bugs for the chat message in my chat window prototype and added a way of displaying badges next to the username. Bit more tidying up on Saturday! Have a good week!
Display of the chat window prototype showing various messages in different backgrounds and various amount of badges next to the username on the left hand side.

Right hand side shows the condensed settings for a new message with the ability to select badges added (in this example Broadcaster, Subscriber, 2025 Review, Prime & Muted)

After stepping away from it for a bit after stream (and a good sleep haha) I've managed to get the first part of the text onto the new line so now "I'" goes along with "m a pirate.". I'll probably fix the first line when it's not broken and end of line emote placement on stream later.
Display of the chat prototype window with two messages on the left hand side and the management of it on the right hand side.

First one is one full of 'iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii' on multiple lines with the first line empty due to a bug. User & Message backgrounds are gold gradients.

Second one is a message with a purple gradient background and text and emotes laid out minus the exception of the emote 5 on line 5 as that should be on line 6.

A third message peeks out from the bottom but it's just the username with a purple gradient background.

All messages have 'TestMcTest' as the username.

Right hand side has controls for what to do display for the message, clearing the existing messages, username and message background colours and what emotes to display using characters from the UTF-8 Private Area.

Streaming this weekend didn't go too bad. Saturday managed to get the emotes to layout. Sunday didn't have much luck with laying out the text and after some investigation and help from Nora - decided for next stream (Saturday) to work on a adaptation of Label3D using GDExtension. Have a good week!
Chat prototype window showing emotes in messages being laid out. Also a message which is text only is also displayed.

Streaming this weekend went alright. Eventually got some text and an emote to be displayed in the center of a chat message - tried to add more text and emotes but the positioning kept being off. Need to put some time aside during the week to think about that. More Saturday! Have a good week!

Streaming went pretty good this weekend. Got the background of the message to change colour (shared chats), change the username text colour and display emotes based on a emote button press. Still need to find a way of displaying labels + emotes together. That's for Saturday. Have a good week!
Prototype chat window using Godot.

Left hand side contains locally generated chat messages.

Right hand side contains buttons and colour wheels for adjusting what's displayed for a message.

This prototype is not connected up to Twitch so no messages from chat is displayed here.

Streaming this weekend went well! Got the controller working on the screenful of emotes and then started doing the chat window prototype. Also got messages being displayed but need to resize the background for the text as it's not correct atm. More to do on Saturday! Have a good week!
In-progress Chat Window Prototype with chat messages and a way of inserting messages by setting the username and message.

Left hand side has a teal gradient with each message having two boxes - one teal gradient box for username and another for the message

The Add Message button on the right adds the entered message - currently User 3 for Username and Moooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo for the meesage.

Clear Message clears the messages.

Messages on the left:

User 3 - Mooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo (incorrectly sized background and is overlapping the User 3 text)
User 2 - Woohooo 🫛🪻🫎
User 1 - Yarrrrrrrrrrr
TestMcTest - Test test test test test test test
TestMcTest - Test test test test test test test

Streaming went pretty well this weekend. Finished off the Godot 3D game tutorial then started doing some research using the Godot GIF GDExtension for getting animated GIFs working. Ran out of time trying to do camera scrolling. Hopefully will get that working Saturday! Have a good week!

Window contains four emotes: dreamt12Eating, popNemo, dreamt12Clap and dinoDance at an angle looking upwards.

dreamt12Eating and dreamt12Clap are designed by DreamTrove.
popNemo & dinoDance are Twitch emotes.

Everyone remember when the balls in the Creating instances Godot tutorial had the word Yarr in?
A running Godot application with the Creating Instances tutorial showing the container red walls which balls collide. Above them is two walls which can split the balls into the left or right hand sides of the container.

There are 26 balls in the container which are light blue that contain the word YARR in various rotations.

It's the weekend! For this weekend's streaming I'm going to try and test the Controller server and see if it is working in the way I want it to be. If it's all good then we'll move on to updating the Android client and making it do the cool stuff. :D Also I'm now affiliate and have emotes!
Picture titled New emotes now available showing the new emotes now available from SleepyTealCoder on Twitch.

Tier 1 emotes consist of Hi (Kiri waving), Pirate (Kiri with eyepatch and pirate hat), Think (Kiri thinking), Yar (Ye old text saying Yar) & Eepy (Kiri sleeping with Z's around him).
Tier 2 emote is Eureka (Kiri doing the FFXIV style Eureka)
Tier 3 emote is Treasure (Kiri looking at shiny treasure including diamonds, gold, necklace & ruby)

The emotes were designed by DreamTrove. Her Twitch is https://twitch.tv/DreamTrove, Bluesky is @dreamtrove.bsky.social and her Vgen which is open for commissions at https://vgen.co/DreamTrove.

Felt like this weekend was more productive. Got the subscription message event working. Need to get content fetcher to fetch the emotes. That's next stream. No streams next week - helping @dreamtrove.bsky.social setup and settle in to her new room. Back Saturday 21st June! Have a good fortnight!

If you see this, share your program and your art 🖥✏️ [ #softwaredevelopment | #artsky | #art ] (I mean this just about counts too right? 😆)
Screenshot of my development environment within a VMWare Workstation window which is running Visual Studio Code with the search tab open looking for hexadecimal value 0x14 while the editor is split in two: left window is showing unit tests for the Logging Window Presenter and right show the Logging Window Presenter code itself.

Sitting on top of the window is Xournal++ showing a drawing of the Twitch Notifications desktop client with the Logging window design.Initial design of the Logging window. It reads:

Buttons
- Run/Pause Notifications
- Run/Pause Follower Notifications
- Run Selected Notifications
- Set As Next Notification
- Skip Remaining Notifications

There are also roughly drawn out icons of the above buttons with their respective Run/Pause states.

A design of the window is then below showing five buttons at the top (as crosses to aid design) and then four list items:

- New User 1 followed!
- New User 2 followed!
- Gifting User 3 gave out 10 subs!
- Gifted User 1 has subscribed!

A green background colour is used to indicate that the current notification is being highlighted in the big notification window while a blue background colour is used to indicate the upcoming notification to be displayed.Design of the Logging window broken down into components.

The base of the window uses a vertical (V) QBoxLayout.

The top part of the vertical (V) QBoxLayout uses a horizontal (H) QBoxLayout with buttons. The remaining part is used by a QTableWidget to display the list items for the big notification events that come in.Actual Logging window.

Shows the actual buttons with icons at the top along with a list of notifications that have come in below. The current notification being displayed in the big notification window has a green background while the next notification to be displayed has a teal background.

I think this weekend's streaming has been very productive. Got the subscription gift event type working with the test server and displaying on the desktop client along with the bits donations. No streams next week (29th & 30th) due to a short break. Back on Saturday 5th April! See you then!

Got the chat window displaying messages from the Twitch chat and also styled. Unfortunately I'm not too happy using the QScrollArea widget to display the messages since it doesn't scroll down to the bottom properly so will need to think it over. Have a good week!
NodeGui (qode) window showing three messages from Twitch with chat badges (Broadcaster, Twitch Recap 2024) top to bottom by SleepyTealCoder: 'bbb', 'ccc' and 'A test of a long message to test how the desktop client handles this. So we know what's going on tbh QScrollArea isn't working too great...'

Bit of a productive weekend really. The flow for my experiment to display events from Twitch on stream (Twitch -> Server -> Desktop Client) was working so started properly coding up with unit tests. Got connecting/disconnecting working along with a styled main window. Have a good week!
My Twitch notification desktop client main window that has been styled with:

- Title bar consisting of logo and large text reading 'Twitch Notification Desktop Client'.
- Background gradient from dark-ish blue to teal.
- Four buttons in the middle of the remaining space reading 'Disconnect', 'Settings' on the first row and 'Logging' and 'Exit' on the second row.

I like seeing how everyone's party popper emoji is different. (Firefox on Mageia for those wondering) --- Bluesky now has over 10 million users, and I was #963,107!

A bit gutted that I couldn't solve the issue I was having with my Jest mocking before my four hour streaming hard stop. Working it out off-stream - turns out using jest.spyOn and only mocking out the first call was the correct solution. Hopefully more progress next weekend! Have a good week!
Screenshot showing solution for spying on NodeJS's FS readFileSync. Code follows:

    test('createServer uses data read from the server key file', () => {
        // Given
        const originalFunction = fs.readFileSync
        const spy = jest.spyOn(fs, 'readFileSync')
        spy.mockImplementationOnce((_path, _options) => { return serverKeyData })
           .mockImplementation((path, options) => originalFunction(path, options))

        // When
        createServer(fs, ssh2ServerFake)

        // Then
        expect(ssh2ServerFake).toHaveBeenCalledTimes(1)
        expect(ssh2ServerFake.mock.calls[0][0].hostKeys[0]).toEqual(serverKeyData)
        expect(ssh2ServerFake.mock.calls[0][0].debug).toEqual(console.log)
    })
