The Sled Dogs of the Day are Hercules (right) and Polar (left)! These two dogs led Jessie Holmes to a first place finish in this year's Iditarod. Polar was credited by Jessie as being the brains behind his Iditarod win and has previously helped Jessie win the Kobuk 440. Congrats to Team Can't Stop!

Jessie Holmes, a bearded musher with a bib of the number 15, kneels beside two huskies. Polar, on the left, is grinning and has pointy ears and is a marshmallowish off-white color. Hercules, who is half sprint dog, is white and black on on the right with two floppy ears.

Fly from ReRun Kennel is the Sled Dog of the Day! Originally adopted from the Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Control, she fearlessly led her team to Eagle Island 2. We are so proud of Fly, Justin, and the whole ReRun team!

A tan and brown dog with striking blue eyes lays in hay, paws crossed, with a gray harness and orange collar.

Since Pepé is the only sled dog I know by name now, I'll insert my own photo from the restart. :) #uglydogs

The very first Sled Dog of the Day here on Bluesky is... Pepé! At nearly 12 years old, she continues to lead her team and came out of retirement to help musher Quince Mountain on this year's Iditarod journey. She made it to Nome with Blair in 2019! Go Pepé & Quince! #uglydogs #iditarod

A brown and white sled dog with a white stripe on her forehead, looking straight at the camera as if to say "why the heck aren't we running yet?" She has a black harness and is in front of a team. She wears black booties on her feet and has an orange tag on her collar with her name - Pepe.
