Ben and Bill just recorded the first episode of season 5 (!) - all about Ben's favorite topic: AI. There may have been some ranting, allegedly. The episode will be out on Tuesday, August 4th. We're excited to engage with everyone in the new school year! Hope you've been SLAyyying the summer!

The more I read about students using AI to cheat because the grade is valuable to them but the learning is not, the more I think we need to rethink grading. I’m reading Learner Feedback for Language Growth this summer and getting ready to discuss it with my friends at @slayyypod.com

New blog post! Posting learning objectives always felt like an evaluation ritual rather than something useful. This week, I wrote about the difference between objectives written about students and objectives written for them, and why that distinction matters for self-regulated learning. #langchat
SLAyyy podcast promotional graphic with a warm pink-to-yellow gradient background and a pink border. The SLAyyy logo appears at the top in large orange and yellow letters with the tagline "Second Language Acquisition For Everyone!" below it in orange and magenta. A yellow card in the center reads "New Blog Post Out Now!" followed by the title "Why Posting Learning Objectives Might Not Be a Waste of Time" and the question "Was anyone ever actually taught to write objectives?" Two cartoon avatar figures stand at the bottom — one bald with a beard in a green shirt saying "Hallo," one with a mustache in a red and black shirt saying "Hola." Both wear pride flag pins. A URL pill at the bottom reads slayyypod.com.

On that topic - my links site to research articles informedlanguagteacher.com Also non-US books relating research to practice, eg our The Language Teacher Toolkit & blogs such as G. Conti's. I know of no better 'research to practice' blog. Agreed - most teachers are not very switched on by research.
