i would say the exception is squeenix and some nintendo shit but they both release lower budget aa type games which are absolutely what i care about more. capcom i guess? resident evil's still fun but again i mainly care about their deader than dead franchises

if you dont already like arr at a fundamental level gameplaywise you're not gonna have a revelation when the story gets more interesting. if you play solely for the story and hate playing the game youre not gonna like it. the story isnt good enough to warrant that. its good but its not killer7

think the crucial miscommunication in ffxiv players recommending the game is that if you dont like the base gameplay loop it doesnt "get good at heavensward/shadowbringers". the story gets better but by the time i got to the good narrative i was already enjoying the gameplay
