It’s “battle ready” Amber; so I have a gag idea with Amber, that when she’s in exceedingly dangerous situations, she tries to modify her clothes to look like an 80’s action hero, but entirely through the (incredibly unthreatening) lens of 80’s mall fashion.

I dug out an old picture I did of Rocko 19 years ago; and having drawn him again recently, I decided to slap this together.

Lastly we have Igor from Count Duckula; another cartoon that is a massive influence to my being an artist (80’s Cosgrove Hall cartoons were my jam). Unfortunately while drawing him, I felt like trash; I’d just had a covid shot earlier in the day, so it kinda ended in a bit of a downer note.

Sleepy here is the character I had the least familiarity with going in. While I’d heard in passing of the obscure 90’s cartoon Birdz, I’d never actually seen it. After schooling myself up a bit, I was pretty happy with the end result on this one.

Now for the only non-anthropomorphic character here, Pearl. Being that she’s a lot more modern than the characters I usually draw, she seemed a bit like a curveball; but it turns out she’s pretty easy to draw.

Daggett was pretty fun to draw; while like Yogi his pretty flat from a design perspective; however he’s also a lot more dynamic, and his design plays with simple geometric shapes is an entertaining way.

Dixie Wolf for those who are unfamiliar was a Droopy antagonist from the 50’s. This was by far the character I enjoyed drawing the most; everything about him fit with my own artistic sensibilities so well, it almost felt like I had muscle memory for drawing a character I’d never drawn before.

Rocko’s Modern Life was one of my big artists influenced (one of 2 on this list) so his was far from the first time I’ve drawn Rocko, and I doubt it’ll be the last.

One thing about Yogi Bear, is how flat he is by design. This was a necessary way to get around the extreme budget limitations of late 50’s/60’s television. Drawing Yogi was actually a strange experience for me, because despite how simple his design is, it was fighting against how I usually draw.
