As though to add insult to injury, the Geo and Anemo Archons had come to her door. Another change. Beelzebul hadn’t met them since she’d first taken on her mantle. No, even before that—she had never met them, not in the ways that mattered. And now here they were, at the top of the Tenshukaku castle, sitting around a table like they were old friends.

“So? What’d you think?” Unable to keep quiet, Barbatos lowered his instrument and leaned forward expectantly. His bright eyes darted from Beelzebul to Morax, eager to drink in the compliments. “I thought I’d try my hand at Inazuma poetry.” He gestured at the open windows around them, at the bright, silvery moon in the sky. “Though, since it’s a moon-viewing festival, maybe I should have sung about it?”

The light cascading on Sky’s face, the stardust tangled in the glow of her hair… It stirred
memories in him. Pictures flooded his mind: the moment he first saw her by the side of the
stream in their neighbourhood, her coming to say goodbye to him when he left to study in
Piltover, her smile when years later he brought her the news that she too got admitted to the
Academy and her smile again when he gifted her that notebook. That inquisitive glint in her
big brown eyes full of wonder got repeatedly etched into Viktor’s very being. How beautiful
he found it. How beautiful he found her. Did she know this? How would she react if he told
her now?

Viktor forced his eyes open to find a brown-skinned young woman staring at
him wide-eyed.
“Some idiot hit you and ran away, I tried to catch you but I was too far, I’m
sorry. What kind of jerk does that to someone with a cane? Or to anyone,
really. Can you move? Did you hit your head? Do you need a doctor? Sorry,
I’m talking too much.”
He blinked. There was something familiar to her face, to the inquisitive
brown eyes behind her spectacles, and to her zaunite accent.
“Sky Young?”
She blinked in return and frowned, then a spark of recognition crossed her
face. “Viktor!? Oh, it’s so great to see you! I heard you’re doing so well at
the academy! I finally made it here too”
She extended her hand. “Here, let me help you,” she said as she pulled him
into a sitting position, then handed him his cane. “Can you stand?”
“I think so,” he said, as he painfully pulled himself up with her help, his
whole body shaking with effort and the aches of several blossoming bruises.
Sky started to pick up his scattered books and notes. “I can carry this for
you, where were you headed?”
Viktor’s stomach clenched. “Oh no! I do have to go, I have a lecture to hold!”
He took a step and almost fell over again, as a searing pain shot from his left
ankle all the way through the leg. He had to lean on Sky to stand.

Writing Challenge! ✍️ It's time to get the words flowing! How will this tender moment between #Viktor and #Sky will end? That will be up to you! Write your version of the end of this fic and tag us so we can share it around! #SkyVik #VikSky

Company in Solitude presents the Writing Challenge. This is the first part of the fic:
"Viktor's eyelids seem to gravitate together like magnets, but he refuses to acknowledge how it takes him a second too many to reopen his eyes after every single blink until the words start not only not making any sense, but blurring over the page until they seem like nothing more than blobs of ink.

Still, he blinks a couple more times for good measure. He can barely tell in which language the book is in anymore.

He pushes it away from him with the heel of his hands before covering his own face and leaning back on the chair. The groan that leaves his throat is equal parts frustration and satisfaction at the relief for his sore neck.

Where he expects to hear an inquiry about his current defeat, or perhaps the soothing noises of pages being turned accompanied by the gentle scratch of a pen, there's nothing.

For a peaceful minute, he doesn't move, basking in the temporary relief to his stiff muscles. If he doesn't change positions soon, he will most likely succumb to the temptation of sleep. It wouldn't even be the most careless way in which he has fallen asleep since he came to the Academy.

He's almost tempted to let it happen. Especially as one single look tells him all he needs to know about Sky's current progress in her studies."

Company in Solitude presents the Writing Challenge. This is the second part of the fic:
"Almost unconsciously, his hands move from his own face to hers. It's squished against her notebook, mouth slightly open as if she was in the middle of articulating a thought in silence before writing it down—an habit she seems to be quite fond of—, and Viktor takes care not too disturb her too much as he snatches the glasses from her face and the pen from her hand and puts both items beside her book.

After he's done, he sits still, watching her back go up and down with her breath.

He wonders at which point of the night she got too tired to keep going.

It's not strange she tried to anyway. Neither of them can take the luxury of slacking, not when they came so far due to their hard work alone… and the occasional burst of luck. It's hard to think they're lucky at times, but here they are right now; in the prestigious Academy of Piltover, but also here, at the Library, at an hour that probably resembles the morning more than the night —it's hard to tell, as nobody ever tries to kick them out. Being Heimerdinger's protégé has its perks.

A sore neck, however, does not.

So reluctantly, he grabs Sky's shoulder and shakes her gently.

"Sky, hey. You can't sleep like that." He shouldn't bother not to be loud when he's trying to wake her up, but it feels equally as compulsive as making sure she was comfortable enough before doing anything else."

020
