Slate & Dune were turned out to meet Apollo’s #wildhorse herd. Slate rejected the best efforts to domesticate him. Dune is not a fan of being handled by humans. With Wilson as their guide into #Skydog #wild, their dreams of #freedom have come true.

Getting the story of #BlueZeus out into the world is one of our biggest accomplishments. At the heart of it is the love story between these horses, which has done more to show in a real way the sacred bonds mustangs form and what a crime it is for the BLM to tear them apart.

Tucker, another Sale Authority baby, was funneled to a kill pen by the BLM when he was 2yo. Uninterested in colts his own age, the mischievous little scallywag treats the older #wildhorses as his equals. His patient mentor, Hubbell, has his work cut out for him in schooling his young ward.

1/ Lakota & Wild Boy are staying in a large, beautiful area we call the Waterfall Pasture. They could head over to Spring Valley’s knee-high grass, shady trees, and spring water, but they prefer to spend autumn days in the sun and long nights under the stars quietly together.

From Scott Wilson: 1/ “The beautiful mare in the picture, Sand Dancer, is not pregnant. While I was documenting the roundup 2 days ago, I overheard a BLM representative telling an international journalist that the ‘horses degrade everything in sight and leaving them out here is a death sentence.’”

1/ These young #wildhorses running free in Spring Valley make my heart sing. Their appearance in kill pens launched the investigation that we shared with The New York Times to expose the BLM’s use of Sale Authority to move huge numbers of mustangs into the slaughter pipeline.

This is Stetson, our #PMU ambassador against the use of #Premarin for hot flashes in menopausal women. To produce it, #mares are kept permanently pregnant until, exhausted, no longer able to conceive. Their foals are killed or sent for slaughter unless they are rescued, like this beautiful boy.

The utterly amazing thing about #burros is how quickly they accept and love once they feel safe. It's one of the reasons it hurts my heart to know how badly they are treated, not just in this country by roundups, holding, and kill pens, but around the world. www.skydogranch.org/wild-burros-...

Skydog’s mission statement from its founding has been 50% rescuing #wildhorses from kill pens and BLM holding corrals + 50% educating and raising awareness for wild horses. In the Year of The Fire Horse, we made that happen in a bigger way than we could ever have hoped.

Dave’s book “Wild Horse Country" is a beautifully written history of wild horses. He reveals how the BLM cycles every 10 years to a different program designed to funnel as many mustangs to slaughter as they can, until they get caught. Well worth a read!

The B.L.M. tells the public that slaughter is off the table for #wildhorses, but they’re doing it in plain sight by using a third party. There are simple steps they could take to end this, but they are turning a blind eye. Important article by Dave Philipps. nyti.ms/3TX5b8N

Under Trump, Protected Wild Horses Are Going to Slaughter
