Mostly, I just don’t want to see anyone engage with the bad faith argument. There are so many positive ways to talk about supporting trans folks. Defending against bad faith, dishonest attack ads shouldn’t be a part of that.

I just don’t want to see people defending some incredibly niche attack ad like “this person wants to sec change your kids” or “this person wants grown men playing women’s sports” when that’s not even remotely true of anyone who is trans or an ally. We want people to be who they are and be happy.

Also to be clear by “things that matter” I mean supporting people getting the care they need. I realized this could read like saying trans issues don’t matter. Some of you might not know me, but trust me when I say that’s not at all how I feel. Trans healthcare is healthcare. It’s vital.

Anti-trans political commercials, especially the “(politician) supports transgender surgeries on kids” are so wildly hateful, dishonest and irrelevant. Most of the time they don’t have any actual proof of it; just broad support for the trans community, which is not the same thing.

You can make millions of dollars hustling and being good at something. You can make tens or hundreds by breaking into the elite of your field in a high demand vertical. You become a billionaire by thinking those numbers aren’t enough and you need to optimize for more wealth at any cost.

Setting aside the “most people don’t know how much a billion or trillion is” cliche, I feel like most people just don’t get that these trillion dollar people and companies are actively against them. No company with the greater good in mind can justify amassing that level of wealth and value.
