I attempt to word most of my posts on this site in such a way that they are easily translatable to other languages for those who wish to read that way. I hope that my efforts have been helpful in that way. My only fear is in how obviously it impacts the voice of my English in these posts.

It aggravates me, as it leaves me to believe that the meaningful art which addresses such subjects is incapable of existing where such users are so common. As on one side it will be rejected by those who disagree with it, and on the other it will be mislabeled by those who should be in support.

I find it frustrating how often I see those who share my opinions, yet lack any respect to the nuance that makes those opinions justifiable. I find I have less in common with these people than those who do not share my opinions.

…and very narrow limits on what they consider to be “valid” worldviews and identities. I believe myself to be a person with very strong opinions, and I am comfortable in holding those opinions because I do so with respect to nuance, as I believe all things implicitly should be.

And I think that it's actually an importantly distinct category from Greed because Gluttony never being able to be sated is not because of a growing desire for more. Gluttony cannot be resolved because it is akin to physical impossibility. Like asking an eyeless salamander to gaze upon the stars.

I think that the logs for the Peccatula Gulae and Hoenheim's put together the picture that Gluttony is the yearning for something impossible. The Gulae constantly consume despite having no stomachs and HH describes "an unreachable desire to feel full."

There are two things that I can draw from the depiction of the Pinky here. Firstly I think that the metal spikes are the Star Blades, which are what define a seat of the organization. The second being that it is the only finger to show skin, perhaps showing it possess the most humanity.

Another character, Yi Sang, is inspired by the book “The Wings” by the author Yi Sang (Kim Haegyŏng), however many elements of character’s story are taken from the author’s life and people related to the author, so it can be worth looking into the artists behind the books as well.

The shortest read of the bunch is Ryūnosuke Akutagawa’s “Hellscreen”, however I would recommend also reading ”The Spider’s Thread” by the same author.

If you are looking to read the books for your own enjoyment with the game, I would recommend starting with Franz Kafka’s “Die Verwandlung” <The Metamorphosis> as it is how the game begins and is a shorter read than most others.

No, there is nothing you are required to read in order to enjoy Limbus Company. The books the Sinners are based on serve only as inspiration for their characters which the game portrays through its own lens. Understanding a character’s original story can help you enjoy them more however.
