It depends on what parts of the shows you're looking at. Honestly, outside of the sour punk period (All Out 22 - All In 23), with 3 shows a week, politics, bullshit, injuries and bad planning, I'm pretty happy with what we got after that. It was inconsistent but more good than bad.

A lot of the podcasts I've watched have called it the weakest match on the card. I feel like that's a testament to the show as a whole, because I fucking loved it. That is a blueprint for a proper womens hoss match. The intensity, the bone crunching moves, guttural noises. It was awesome!

Although how much of the Punk/Mox back and forth being bad was that Punk kept getting suspended/injured? The story was more about backstage than on screen. Darby’s run with the TNT title is a good example. He drove it like he stole it. Getting lucky wins until somebody smarter beat him.

I don’t think it would be the worst thing if Darby won the belt and dropped it soon after. Mick Foley won the WWF title 3 times, his first reign was 26 days, the second was 20, the third was 1. Sometimes the chase is better than the reign, and you can’t be an underdog champ for long. That’s okay.

I saw they walked back that they were dropping AEW coverage after they took a massive hit on subscribers. I actually kinda liked Tempest and Sat, but Luke and Oli can take their CM Punk sippy cups and get fucked.

I do love Darby, and I want to see him as the champion at some stage. But I think he needs to be built up more in the ring. Ospreay, Hangman, Swerve and MJF, I think are the four main characters of AEW. Darby needs to show he can do that before he can be a believable world champion.

I can see that take. It’s not my read on it, but it makes sense. To me, Hangman’s AEW arc has *always* been “what makes a good man?” Most obviously alluded to in the “What makes a cowboy?” video. He’s a critique of the stereotypical babyface. “Winning championships” does not a good man make.

And I think the time for Darby has passed. Maybe if he hadn’t gone to Everest, they’d have done what they needed to and got him in position to get there. But I think it’s time now for Mox to lose. It’s time now for Ospreay to win the belt.

I think it makes more sense for Hangman’s redemption if he DOESN’T win. Because he shouldn’t just be forgiven for what he did in his heel run. It’s not as easy as that. He can’t just say he’s putting Swerve behind him. He’s got to make amends.

If you asked 100 fans you’d get 100 different answers. There are a lot of 1% reasons, and maybe that’s the point. I think Cody was just too much of a white meat babyface for the AEW audience. They want shades of grey, they want edgy faces and sympathetic heels. Mox is getting the same treatment now

But totally expected and warranted. They’ll be keeping tabs on a lot of CMLL, NJPW, Stardom, RevPro, Indy talent, because it’s way easier to sign them than somebody in AEW. And the AEW shows will be a good opportunity to pick someone up while their stocks are high.

I love the current AEW chaos arc. Swerve, Omega, Opps, The Elite, The Deathriders all in one segment and it makes sense. MJF and Hurt Syndicate segment transitions through MJF and Hangman segment, into a Don Callis Family, Ospreay, Brody, Hangman brawl. And they all have reason to be there.

Jinder Mahal once talked about asking to speak to the crowd more. Didn’t need to be on TV, just more reps, and he got it, and he got better. Ricochet came to AEW, and he got promos every week, he got better, the heel turn gave him development and he found his voice.

My thoughts exactly. The idea that they’re trying to intentionally reference the VKM lawsuit is similarly childish. People are hearing hooves and their brains say “zebra”.

There’s definitely a much healthier mindset from the AEW fan community since the start of the year. Probably has a lot to do with the TV deal and a large proportion moving to Bluesky. There’s always going to be the grifters and hate watchers, but they seem much quieter now.

They’d been on a roll since the TV deal started, but I think the momentum was lost after Revolution with all those stories closing simultaneously. It’s been a case of “rerack and start again” since then. Getting pieces set up for All In to be the biggest show they can make it.
