A LEGIONNAIRE'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND PEACE celebrated its first anniversary this week! To celebrate, here's some absolutely gorgeous art by Sarah Skrutskie of one of my favorite scenes ❤️☀️ www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/771397...

Illustration of Katrien and Emory from A LEGIONNAIRE'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND PEACE. Katrien, a large platinum-blonde long-haired white woman, stands in the center of a galaxy of glowing lights emanating from the golden token around her neck, staring up in wonder. Emory, a blonde short-haired white man, stares up at her in awe.

I've adored @bethfullerart.bsky.social's dreamy, intricate landscapes for years, and I'm thrilled I got to commission one from her! Beth's rendering of the Mouth of Hell from A LEGIONNAIRE'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND PEACE perfectly captures the menace of the citadel standing over the interdimensional rift.

A massive black spire stands over a glowing, volcanic rift, framed by two cliffs. Two small soldier figures stand on the left cliff face, staring out at the menacing landscape. The style is intricately detailed, with billowing, underlit clouds in the background

Another glorious blurb for A LEGIONNAIRE'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND PEACE, this time from my good friend @tracichee.bsky.social!

“A charming, post-war fantasy, A Legionnaire’s Guide to Love and Peace is the perfect mix of the flashy, extravagant struggle between good and evil and the down-to-earth grind of a military on the march. Kat, Emory, and their fellow soldiers are my favorite kind of heroes—big, good-natured, and supportive, both on and off the battlefield—and between the quest for hand pies, the inane ball games, and the general camaraderie, it’s impossible not to fall in love with them. For anyone who adores everyday folks just doing their best, this book is a warm, welcoming hug.”—Traci Chee, New York Times bestselling author of Kindling and A Thousand Steps into Night

okay we can do a little taste as a treat, at least. everyone say thank you canva. love is stored in the making absolute fools out of yourselves in front of all your comrades

A LEGIONNAIRE'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND PEACE:
Kat and Emory swayed, stumbled, and toppled over as one, hitting the dirt hard enough that they took a mutual pause just to recover the breath it knocked out of them. Emory tried to snake an arm around her torso and get her into a submission hold, but Kat wrenched it back, turning in his grip so she could sling one leg over his hips and lock him in place. He had the audacity to laugh at the attempt, and she couldn’t help mirroring it. They’d gone from soldiers squaring off with honor to kids scrapping in the dirt, and in the moment, Kat was so blisteringly happy that she barely cared.
She couldn’t win Emory his dignity, but she could lose hers alongside him.

I time tracked all of my writing work in 2024, and these are the results. Most of the first half of the year was spent drafting ALGTLAP (aka TKK on the charts) and you can see the plunge in August when I finally turned it in. In total, I did roughly an hour of work a day, every single day. Woof.

Stats showing the number of hours spent writing over a year. A bar chart shows how many hours were spent each month. The total hours are 375:57:36, and a table breaks the time down by projects. Two pie charts break down the projects and time entries by percentages
