In Dolly Parton's song, "In the Good Old Days (When Times Were Bad)", are these lines from the chorus: "No amount of money could buy from me The memories that I have of then No amount of money could pay me To go back and live through it again" Would seem she lived those lyrics.

"Thomas contended that the ruling 'devalues' American citizenship and misinterprets history by extending protections to children of 'foreign temporary visitors and illegal aliens.'" Really? Based on what evidence? This doesn't rise even to the level of an opinion -- it is merely an utterance. Shame.

Dear Google: Stop making AI "summaries" of replies to my emails. Believe that I do enjoy reading entire replies to said emails. What I don't enjoy is having unrequested and unhelpful commentary thrust into my correspondence. I'm sure that Gemini has better things to do. Thank you.

Every citizen 18 and over, unless ineligible under a court-ordered conservatorship, should be able to vote with the utmost ease. Anything less is manipulation by the state.

Americans have become more or less inured to Donald Trump’s incoherent ramblings. In Davos, Europeans were inclined to call the President’s behavior what it is: out of control. Read Susan B. Glasser’s column: newyorkermag.visitlink.me/2P-VmL

Going to school in the 60s and 70s, religious freedom never came up in class. Sometimes, as kids, we'd debate it during our free time. We didn't need permission; we didn't need "rights" handed down from the adults. All we needed was no pressure.

🧪Jim O'Neill, the acting CDC director, is a tech investor w/o a biology degree or the relevant experience. Susan Monarez was fired b/c she refused to endorse anti-science directives. Multiple officials resigned as they were forced to pick ideology over science. Every accusation is a confession.

Public health is a noble calling. When it is driven by transparent data and rigorous science, it earns public trust and keeps the world safe.

The beating heart of public health in America is CDC. During the previous administration, CDC lost public trust by manipulating health data to support a political narrative. The Trump administration is rebuilding trust and refocusing CDC on its core mission of keeping America safe from infectious disease...

How about we scrap the ineffective income tax for a consumption tax that protects the poor, bolsters the middle class and taxes the rest effectively enough to finance a government that is not too large to be unwieldy, yet not too small to execute its promise to the people? I do love my fever dream.

🪰🧪 Model organism databases provide the raw materials for our understanding of evolution. Sequences on these databases help human databases predict how bad a mutation might be, based on its conservation. This is how platforms like FlyBase contribute to modern medicine. Terrible news.

🧪When someone uses phrases like "science needs dissent" it means that they want unproven theories to have equal weight. It is common place for scientists to question data or challenge ideas in different settings. There is plenty of open, intelligent "dissent" in science, backed by evidence.
