the only thing scarier than getting sent to the Psychic Terror Realm by your zombie wine aunt is getting sent to the Psychic Terror Realm that she is too emotionally compromised to actually form properly

woke up to a bunch of people making these so i did too the first 5 games are games that i think had some kind of profound affect on me. How I think about games, myself, how I write, etc. The latter 4 are just games I've sunk impossible amounts of time into

i found a small collection of Utena MST fics today, which both delighted me and made me realize I don't think anyone makes MST fics anymore. Basically people used to find bad/funny/etc fanfiction and interject script-formatted jokes between them like an episode of mystery science theater 3000

Koji Suzuki's Loop, meanwhile, is one of the worst novels I've read in a long time. Mind-numbingly plodding and totally lost in uninteresting exposition. If you ever want to see how important an editor is to the writing process, read this book and see what happens without a good one.

Oddly, although I like it, Chrono Cross seems more regressive about women. I think a big part of it is just how that story is told, but it's mostly about men and its female lead is inaccessible and in peril like 70% of the game And yes im still bitter about them killing my friend lucca offscreen

Koji Suzuki's Ring is a lot less horror focused than the movies based on it, surprisingly. It's closer to a mystery novel with scifi-supernatural elements weaved in which mostly work in the background. Parts of it were really problematic, but it was engrossing throughout. Enjoyed.

I loved King's Field 1 (the japanese one, not KF2) so damn much. It's janky, slow, and really throws you to the wolves at the start but at the same time its so engrossing and atmospheric and just wandering around and getting lost always feels so rewarding. Looking forward to playing the other three
