Data recovery is a very specialized process, because the actuators are just a few nanometers above the platters, if even just a spec of dust touches the platters, it will cause a head crash and then the rest of the disk becomes unrecoverable.

(2/2) Good news: It's a spinning disk drive so the data SHOULD be recoverable Bad news: Data recovery needs to be done in a clean room so they can replace the heads, and that starts at $1200CAD So I'm looking at my options, and I'll come up with a plan in time uwu

(1/2) Right before I went to Fur-Eh, my main media storage drive (and naively the only copy) had some kind of failure and died. I lost access to all of my artwork, unity projects, photos, videos, documents etc. Some stuff going back to 2004 SATA Drive #5 is missing from this list lmao
