The finale to airshows at RNAS Yeovilton used to include simulated attacks with ground based explosives to make the bangs. Right up until 2019.

Thank you! You may have already seen this but there's footage on YouTube of Ka-1 being operated from the Akitsu Maru which is the one IJA ship I was really aware of having included in a list of the 10 worst aircraft carriers... hushkit.net/2022/12/05/1... youtu.be/_EFt7cLCRSY?...

I've wondered about the IJA's fleet, did it mean you could join the army as a sailor with a full career path? Or were they civilian crewed, or some other scheme I haven't thought of?

The last few months definitely gave you the option of an all wood kamikaze aircraft... Or this dose of the future en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyushu_...

As noted you've got a Yagi array on each wing for the ASV radar, very basic display just a wiggly line running up the screen. Outboard of that you have the posts that lock into the tailplane when the wings are folded.

If the railways are functional I suspect only a couple would do the job for some people.

A truly civilised way to follow the other sides movements.

Nice you've chosen a photo where the two aircraft you can see most of are Fulmars!

Most of the Craig Bond themes have been a bit meh. I think the only one I really liked was 'You know my name' by Chris Cornell.

That's what they want you to think man! Didn't you read the bit where they can control your mind! Although also well done the Americans for choosing an operation name that doesn't give the game away instantly for once.

Tried to distract the cat from having it's fur declumped by playing slaps with it. I lost 8-1 but I feel the one time I patted her paw first as a moral victory.

1. It proved the viability of underwater ejections. 2. It pioneered the extended development timeline now popular with all manufacturers. 3. It was originally designed to carry torpedoes.

Yes, and it doesn't look like carpet bombing.

Whereas you don't like sources that disagree with your preconceived position.

Sorry I thought you were going to post a credible source.

Not really but I am aware of the capabilities of modern weaponry, whereas you appear to think they peaked with the raid on Dresden.

The hospital Hamas hit the parking lot of with a rogue missile?

Not really.

Could you link to the IDF report? I literally can't find it anywhere.
010
Bing Chandler @skippybing.bsky.social · 27/10/2023
Yes, thats why they invented laser and GPS guided ones. Or missiles with cameras built in to target specific rooms.
200
Bing Chandler @skippybing.bsky.social · 27/10/2023
They can target individual buildings, I'm assuming they won't target those they know hostages are in.

Bing Chandler @skippybing.bsky.social · 27/10/2023
Where are those IDF official tallies? I can't find anything on their website, the only claims I can find are by Hamas.

May be the going rate then, must be with a support package though surely?
110
Bing Chandler @skippybing.bsky.social · 26/10/2023
I don't, that's why I say claiming although quotation marks may have made that more obvious.
000
Bing Chandler @skippybing.bsky.social · 26/10/2023
I'd guess at engines and consumable items. Although it's a bit like PPP for a new car, almost impossible to buy an aircraft without a support contract these days. Agree it's a lot for a fairly simple long running design though.

Thinks up reason to take partner to Birmingham that won't make her suspicious...
010
Bing Chandler @skippybing.bsky.social · 26/10/2023
Is that comparing like for like? ie does the Chinook contract include support and the F-35 headline cost not? Because that would be a lot for 14 helicopters on their own.

The point of that article is to stop militaries disguising themselves as civilians which would make all civilians legitimate targets. It's designed to stop the thing you're worried about and accuse me of not caring about.

Bing Chandler @skippybing.bsky.social · 26/10/2023
The point of this part of the convention is to stop armed forces disguising themselves as civilians and therefore making all civilians legitimate targets.

It's a law that's been in place for at least 70 years and replaced not really having any laws. What would your alternative be?
000
Bing Chandler @skippybing.bsky.social · 26/10/2023
You seem very emotional about this aspect of international law and I'm struggling to understand why? What is so upsetting about it?
000
Bing Chandler @skippybing.bsky.social · 26/10/2023
Sorry you're not a fan of the Law I guess, it's been developed over several decades to make the least worse option.

No pretty sure what I posted agreed with Article 5 at your link.

You realise your problem is with the Geneva convention not me right?
000
Bing Chandler @skippybing.bsky.social · 26/10/2023
Sorry I was just answering questions, if you don't like the answers take it up with the drafters of the Geneva convention.

Bing Chandler @skippybing.bsky.social · 26/10/2023
As I understand it that's a fact of the Law of Armed Conflict, I provided a link to the interpretation by the Red Cross. Sorry if you don't like that. casebook.icrc.org/a_to_z/gloss....

Bing Chandler @skippybing.bsky.social · 26/10/2023
Could you point to a source? I've seen plenty of reports that the IDF are pursuing Hamas targets in the West Bank so someone thinks they're there. Obviously they won't be in Riyadh they prefer Qatar.

No because if they're not in uniform and taking part in the fighting they aren't entitled to the protections of the Geneva convention.

Because obviously anyone who disagrees with you is an illiterate and couldn't possibly have come to a different conclusion through their own agency.

Well I don't read any of them so that's a bullet dodged.

I literally said they were tragic in the first message you replied to. Everything else is you projecting your assumptions on to me.

So just the sources you use then? I wouldn't even know where to find State Department press releases.
