A "come and take it" flag, except instead of a firearm in the center there is a clip-art depiction of a piece of mail being put in a ballot box.

Genuine question: what is the point of this? What does Trump think this will accomplish? People are still going to call it Lake Ontario, just like people still call it the Gulf of Mexico. All this does is make the executive branch look like a bunch of whiny toddlers.
A screenshot of a tweet from the official White House twitter account. It reads "EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: Lake Ontario is renamed to LAKE AMERICA! 🇺🇸"

Big desk doesn't want you to know this, but you can just use a plastic folding table for a desk. I've used mine for years now and I haven't had any issues with it whatsoever. Plus it's got a lot of desk space and leg room.
A plastic folding table being used as a desk. The desk has two monitors, several computer peripherals, some books, and a few other items on top.

I don't understand how windows users can tolerate this shit. Genuinely why the fuck does this operating system need to spend several minutes applying updates on boot instead of just applying them while running. Pretty much every modern UNIX-like doesn't do this.

I felt bored, so I wrote a few Genmon scripts in Lua to spice up my taskbar by tracking CPU and memory usage. They're in the public domain if you want to use them for something yourself. github.com/skinchangerd...
The right side of a task bar in the XFCE desktop environment containing 3 Genmon (general monitor) items and several other panel items. The 3 Gemon items track CPU, swap space, and memory usage in percentages.

Just spent ~3 hours debugging some quaternion math in an Unreal Engine project only to fix the issue by using Euler angles instead.

Look Elon, clang-format has allowed me to be incredibly productive when working on my codebase! Just look at how many lines of code I've changed in a matter of minutes! I'm totally a 100x developer who is making substantial positive changes which matter to users!
A summary of a git commit showing that 62 files have been changed, with 842 lines added and 1076 lines deleted.

This commit was created using clang-format, a formatting tool for code which does not affect it's meaning or logic.

A quantum wave-trolley approaches a plate with a double slit. On the other end of each slit is a crystal that will split the wave-trolley into an entangled pair of wave trolleys with half the energy of the original. You stand next to a lever that operates seven wave-trolley detectors. These detectors are placed on the tracks that the entangled pairs will go through. Right after the detectors, people are tied down to the track, placed inside a box transparent only to the trolley frequency of the EM spectrum (this means you can't know if they are dead or alive until the box opens). If you activate the detectors, you will force the trolley's wave function to collapse into a single trolley-particle by revealing which slit it went through. This would instantly kill one of the two persons in front of the detectors on one side, but also have a 50% chance of killing a single person on the other end, or a 25% chance of either killing 4, or none, depending the final direction that the particle-trolley goes through.

If you do nothing, you might kill everyone or no one, or some in some worlds and some in others. But you don't know which is it, because you haven't figured out whether the correct interpretation is Copenhagen, or Many Worlds or Pilot Wave or any other.

There is one last problem: You are a virtue ethicist, and so you are probably unaware of any developments after Aristotle, and you're only vaguely aware that the 20th century happened, because you might have read Macintyre or Anscombe so you have no idea what any of this means or how to approach it.
What do you do?

Being mildly interested in British politics is so funny as an American. You'll look away for one second only to see some bullshit like the Prime Minister endorsing Count Binface.

I try using a build of Unreal 5.8 compiled from source. It crashes. I try using a pre-compiled build of Unreal 5.8. It crashes. I try using O3DE. It crashes. I try an older version of O3DE. That fails to compile. I finally get a fix for Unreal 5.8, and now it only freezes instead. fuck my life.

The Reflecting Pool really doesn't matter that much, but it's incredibly funny to watch the POTUS crash out about algae.
Algae floats on the surface of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, blocking the reflection of the water with green sludge. The Washington monument can be seen in the distance.

We should fund efforts to create element 121 solely so that we can forever ruin full-length periodic table posters by forcing them to display g-block elements.
An extended periodic table, with the g-block elements (purple) between s-block (pink) and f-block (green).

Sometimes I really wish we still had big box physical games for PC. Even if I've never owned one, I can't help but view them incredibly fondly. Don't let physical media die for other platforms.

Really hate how people complain that Unreal Engine 5 is "unoptimized" based on their experience with the latest AAA slop that uses it and completely ignore other UE5 games that can run on decade-old hardware, e.g. DRG Rouge Core.

Recently finished the book "Extreme Programming Explained", and I've realized just how wrong I've been doing things with my hobby projects. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone interested in programming, even if you work solo. It's short and gets the point across well.

Unreal Engine is one of those codebases that's so large that you sometimes randomly stumble onto stuff like this. What is even the point of this README?
A README that literally just says "Details forthcoming."

A multi-line code comment at the top of a .yaml file with the following text:
# Gonna be honest, I only know what half of these options do.
# If you are here from the future because clang-format is acting up, I'm so sorry.
# Also, clang-format doesn't work well with C# because of bracketed initializer blocks.
# See https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/issues/63122 for more info.
