Inspired by the Paninaro magazine this is a bit of a mini sequel to Verona Campione Covers a lot of ground: Italia 90, the birth of house music in Italy and the rise and fall of an unmistakably 80s fashion trend!

Great to attend the first Los Angeles Korean film festival at Harmony Gold last night. A rare big screen showing of The World of Love 세계의 주인 (2025). An incredible film with one the best acting debuts I can remember from Seo Su-bin, who was there with director Yoon Ga-eun. #filmsky

Many tipped Como as possible Scudetto contenders, and they could still end up in the top four, but I still don't think they have enough to win every game. They've already dropped points to Udinese and now Frosinone (who have made a great start to the season).

Another unconvincing Napoli performance, only really competent in brief spells. Billy Gilmour excellent, great passing and connected the play well alongside Lobotka, very impressive goal. Others were under par. Injuries aside Allegri under pressure, and rightly so, again.

Fantastic game, although there have already been many in Serie A already this season, in part thanks to the more lenient officiating. It would be great if Roma can continue to challenge at the top of the table. Inter remain firm favourites.

Miraculous. Sampdoria win for the first time this season. Off the bottom of Serie B as well. Insigne and Begic with the goals. Abildgaard sent off. Some great football in the second half. Reprieve for Corradi. Brady and Flachi there as well, fans tifo amazing. About time after a dismal start.

Sampdoria played some excellent football in the first half. Great chances for Henderson, Insigne and Abilgaard. Typical misfortune for Gartenmann to score an own goal. Verschaeren looking good again. Has to be something to reward the fans after the break. Watch on @destinationcalcio.bsky.social

Someone recognised my shirt and said Quagliarella, Sampdoria (which doesn't always happen) while I was celebrating a big birthday recently in this picturesque wee place. Not where you would imagine.

There will a big display to mark Sampdoria's 80th year in existence when the Blucerchiati play Catanzaro at home tomorrow. Ravanelli and Esposito in the squad. Corradi unable to play his first choice team yet. Hopefully a turning point and first win. Live on @destinationcalcio.bsky.social

Encouraging to see a lot of young players in the new Italy squad - hopefully some of them will actually get game time - along with a lot of familiar names (a couple that shouldn't have been included again). The Azzurri can't rely on the same old faces indefinitely.

Glad I was unable to watch Sampdoria's defeat at Mantova. Virtually impossible to find it anywhere. Bottom of Serie B again. Injuries notwithstanding it's already looking like another long campaign. So many issues to resolve. Utterly disheartening.

It's only the fourth game of the campaign but Sampdoria yet again in danger of being marooned at the bottom of the standings if they fail to win at Mantova on Sunday. Regardless there's no point in arguing for Corradi to leave, the cycle of endless sackings does not work. Give him some time.

Seems like you can't praise or criticise Como. They do play great football, but the club has billions behind it. No Italians started the CL win (subs obviously). An ambitious 'project' yet difficult to fully support them. Who knows if it will last long term. Money dependent of course.

Stephen Kasiewicz @skasiewicz.bsky.social · 07/09/2026

Great start to the season for Lazio and Davide Frattesi. Three victories and three goals for a midfielder far too good to be sitting on the bench every week. He splits opinion but his goalscoring ability has always been known from his time at Sassuolo.

000

Stephen Kasiewicz @skasiewicz.bsky.social · 07/09/2026

Three games, no wins, down at the bottom of the table yet again. Corradi hasn't been able to field his strongest team so far and probably won't be able to for weeks. Same old cycle for Sampdoria. Injuries, misfortune, ineptness and disappointment.

000

Stephen Kasiewicz @skasiewicz.bsky.social · 07/09/2026

The miraculous, lesser spotted Sampdoria goal. Really quite impressed with Verschaeren on his first start. Insigne clinical with the rebound. Palermo can have no real complaints. Samp finally get a sliver of good fortune and have been more threatening after the break.

000

Stephen Kasiewicz @skasiewicz.bsky.social · 07/09/2026

Possession and distance covered stats are completely meaningless (like most stats) if you can't direct a shot on target. Some bizarre officiating in the Palermo-Samp game. No qualms about the score. Samp hesitant and wayward in the final third and poor at the back.

010

Stephen Kasiewicz @skasiewicz.bsky.social · 07/09/2026

A clear foul throw from Augello - one foot in the air - as Sampdoria concede a second. No complaints about the scoreline, but injuries and bad luck both factors again in what will be the most difficult away game of the season at Palermo. Another difficult watch.

000

Stephen Kasiewicz @skasiewicz.bsky.social · 07/09/2026

A promising enough opening eight minutes for Sampdoria and then the somewhat inevitable. So many injuries - Viti last week a terrible one - could prove extremely costly as Samp start yet another season in Serie B. Palermo ahead. Game live on @destinationcalcio.bsky.social

010

Stephen Kasiewicz @skasiewicz.bsky.social · 05/09/2026

Fantastic game with so many chances it could have gone either way. Inter clearly have the best squad in Serie A and can bring on players to win games. Napoli's backline looks really susceptible, despite a decent array of attacking options. Tough season ahead for Allegri.

350

Stephen Kasiewicz @skasiewicz.bsky.social · 05/09/2026

The Napoli central defensive pair doesn't look entirely comfortable again. An Inter goal looking an inevitability. Good pace to the game, the ref hasn't got everything right, but definitely in favour of ignoring all the questionable decisions to let play continue.

210

Stephen Kasiewicz @skasiewicz.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

Como vulnerable at the back, but just like last season they have goalscorers in every area. Baturina capable of scoring from long distances, a rarity now, Diao a constant threat on the break, and the all round skill and composure of the brilliant Nico Paz. Too much for Genoa.

010

Stephen Kasiewicz @skasiewicz.bsky.social · 02/09/2026

A very disappointing transfer window for Napoli, perhaps their most underwhelming in recent years. No meaningful additions. After such a dire display against Como, and Inter and Arsenal coming soon, it already feels like a critical period for Allegri. McTominay out as well.

Difficult to track all the moves in the window, especially on the deadline. An overhyped, out of control game of millions. Used to be excited by it all, not so much now. I prefer actually watching games of football rather than the constant, tedious transfer merry-go-round.

An unprecedented eight Scots in Serie A now Nathan Patterson has joined Torino. McTominay, Gilmour, Adams, Patterson, Ferguson, Bowie, Doig and Miller. Liam Henderson in Serie B with Sampdoria as well. Can only be good for the national team, hopefully.

Defending deep when down, waiting until late until putting on creative, pacy attackers, a very frustrating watch as Napoli lose to Como in their first home game of the season. Central defence and midfield concerning. Not looking great at the moment for the Partenopei.

130

Stephen Kasiewicz @skasiewicz.bsky.social · 30/08/2026

Napoli allowing Como all the space and time in the box they need, could easily be more than 2-1. Another central defender, other than Badiashile, required. Baffling to leave Neres and Allison Santos on the bench. Como vulnerable on the flanks. Napoli lacking in midfield as well.

Stephen Kasiewicz @skasiewicz.bsky.social · 29/08/2026

Yet another poor start to the season for Sampdoria. Winless after two games. The same type of bizarre and lamentable goals conceded against Juve Stabia. More than 20,000 season ticket holders again this season. Performances nowhere near good enough.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Allegri's Napoli this season. A front line of Alisson Santos, Hojlund and Neres would be incredibly attacking. Not the kind of front three favoured by such a pragmatic coach. Expect McTominay to score in double figures again. Hoping for the best.

011

Stephen Kasiewicz @skasiewicz.bsky.social · 21/08/2026

Inter the clear title favourites again this season. Expect Milan and Napoli to challenge them. Don't agree with the idea that Como will contend for the Scudetto. Paramount coverage usually good, but hopefully no more constant references to English football. It's Serie A!
