This argument about “media literacy” being the basis for one opinion or the other is crazy with how poorly this show was translated AND how the shows themes weren’t very well developed vs. what it was pushing. This show wanted to be a romance and anyone who can’t at least admit that is bad faith

Is it beautiful and is the theme of self improvement and desire to live for one’s self beautiful? Yes! Does the ending feel sudden and unrelated to the several episodes leading into it, and is it frustrating that a show marketed as romance didn’t have a romantic ending? Also yes!

What continues to astound me about discourse surrounding the ending of goodbye Lara is the complete lack of nuance. It has to be really perfectly done or queerbait, and nothing in between

Thank you! You know its not the first time I've heard it and I'm always so surprised the eyes seem to be a real attention grabber for people

Like imagine watching Cosmic Princess Kaguya except when she goes to the moon you turn it off and then get online and talk about how if people don’t like it they lack media literacy LMAO

Also coming to the realization that no one actually watched or understood the ending to Revolutionary Girl Utena. One show ended in the pursuit of love, and one show ended after a time skip downplaying it because the 11th hour twist was the show marketed *as* romance wasn’t about romance actually

The upside of the finale to Goodbye Lara is that there wasn’t an entire episode devoted to a what if scenario where the butch dies and everyone is better off for it

Skarnbryda Yascaret @skarnbryda.bsky.social · 21/09/2026

Poor one out for the sweet butches burned at the alter of “not everyone gets happy headings for the sake of grounding the narrative”

I want to talk about my feelings about the finale of Goodbye Lara, but its too soon to discuss spoilers I think. I'd hate to spoil someone despite the passion of my emotions about its ending.

This is something I've been really thinking about in trying to better define Skarn

Skarnbryda Yascaret @skarnbryda.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

I'm not the most knowledgeable, but I thought it would be a fun exercise in sort of explaining a bit of my process. Hope this helps someone out there!

At which point the most important stuff becomes, how to light the subject externally. The color sliders can carry a lot of weight, but the easiest one to pick up is learning to soften your lighting. Unless you're outside at noon, it'll be helpful to soften the light to make it feel natural

Screenshots can be nice, but in the game by default they come across dark and flat. The first step I always take is to crank up my character lighting switch.

Been looking at gposing and the sort of things I take into consideration. Not to toot my own horn, bu I've been really happy with my use of lighting to help elevate screenshots. Showing a few stages of my layering on a simple gpose. #gposer | #roegadyn | #SkarnSkreens

It’s based off of a manga from the 1960’s that was foundational inspiration for Revolutionary Girl Utena, so I was always gonna need to watch it, but you should too!
