A little insight into my character, when I think of “hills” this is what I picture
Blue sky; telephone or power lines, something if that nature; golden hills covered in wheat of some sort I’m guessing and scattered with oaks. A dirt road and barbed wire in the foreground

THE IRON ROAD PIONEERS
By
Artist Elizabeth MacQueen
This Sculpture commemorates and honors the enormous contribution of the Chinese Immigrants who helped build the early railroads on the Central Coast and across our nation. Their laborious efforts helped to lay the early foundations for San Luis Obispo to become the premier model urban community that we enjoy today.
The first narrow gauge rail line in this region was completed in 1876. It enabled San Luis Obispo's agricultural areas to send their products worldwide via Port Harford (now Port San Luis.)
Thousands of Chinese laborers graded the roadbeds, built trestles, cut major access roads, and risked their lives in the process. Many died and were laid to rest in unmarked graves.
This sculpture is an everlasting monument in recognition of those Iron Road Pioneers.

Sunrise over a grassy landscape with dome trees. Clouds mass at the top of the picture but blue sky is visible below, still showing orange close to the horizon and a yellow sun appearing to rest on the ground.

There was a lot more orange a little while before but I didn’t capture it

Completely failed to take pictures on the tour. I went to aim at the Wrigley Building and between the angle of the su and my polarized glasses I could not see my phone screen, so I just put it away for the duration. Did take this from the Riverwalk because the reflections were very cool
I am such a disappointment to my tour docent who expected us all to learn 25 facts. I have already forgotten the name of this building. It’s at the confluence of, um, two forks of the Chicago river? Anyway, I really like the way the parabolic bit reflects the river and that piece of art

There are apparently a lot of people getting on in St. Cloud in the morning, we have been warned that the car attendant may have to wake us singletons up to move so they can seat families together. Sigh. Here’s me all geared up to sleep:

Mountains, somewhere in Montana. Bearish Glacier, I think? I don’t really remember taking this picture, sorryI don’t know the names of these peaks either but shortly after we passed them there was a sign saying we were at the Continental DivideBreakfast in the dining car: omelet, potatoes, pork sausage, coffee, orange juice. Interpretive sign saying

Pickleweed
Salicornia pacifica
The name pickleweed comes from the plant's pickle-like appearance and salty taste. It grows in the low to middle tidal zones, where it is inundated twice a day by the tides.
