#IAL10 in Trieste was a joy to attend - inspiring talks, new ideas, and collaborations taking shape. Lichenologists are truly some of the friendliest people, and the atmosphere all week was fantastic. Thanks for the kind feedback on my talks. If you're interested, the PDFs are here: 1url.cz/yefDA

Happy to share our new paper on Synurales from Florida - adding a fresh piece to the puzzle of silica-ornamented algal diversity and evolution! One of the newly described species even made it to the cover of the issue.😊 1url.cz/@Florida

In this paper, we show that photobiont diversity increases as lichens age. Interestingly, as the thallus grows, autosporine algae become more prevalent at the expense of zoosporine algae, likely because the latter play a key role in lichen establishment. 1url.cz/@Proto

Video: a Japanese scientist was attacked by flies while giving the acceptance speech for his Ig Nobel Prize-winning research paper that proved painting Zebra-like stripes on cows led to a decrease in biting fly attacks.

🌊 Happy to share our recent study on phytoplankton dynamics! We found that communities can shift dramatically in just a few days - driven by grazers like Cladocera and environmental factors such as silica concentration and wind speed. t.co/PaL0QcofrV
