June is over, but we're still celebrating! Stonewall, commemorated in Pride celebrations, was a pivotal moment in the movement for equal rights and protections for LGBTQ+ folks. Victories are hard won and the US is backsliding. Check DSA's Trans Rights and Bodily Autonomy group: trba.dsausa.org

In a preliminary win, city council has voted to shut off and cover the cameras that it rents from Flock. #alpr #deflock ------- Correction to the information posted yesterday: The previous city council did approve a flock contract on 11/13/2024.

Did you know that Mount Vernon rents 6 cameras from Flock? These cameras send our personal identifying information to a national database. Your grocery trip, my doctor appointment, and our neighbor's visit to church are all recorded, and that data is controlled by a bloated tech company. #FlockOff

On June 19th, 1865, enslaved African Americans in Galveston, TX were finally informed that they were free. Annual Juneteenth celebrations have continued ever since. Today we remember the collective strength needed to take liberty and justice when those pledged American values are not given to all.
A red, yellow, and green graphic on a white background with two hands breaking a chain between them and holding up a cartoon heart. Below this image is the word "Juneteenth." At the center bottom of the image is a quote from Yvette D. Clarke, "Let us never forget that Black history continues to define American history." Also included as background elements are stars and flowers of various sizes and shapes.
