I always found it super cruel that they could be killed so easily with no means of rescuing them often due to collateral damage from explosions. I don't think that was needed, though I imagine they did it to show how despicable the aliens are. iirc they're invincible in the N64 version, too.

The tone is a very fine line that works in 3D, most likely accidentally honestly, but it's completely out of whack in DNF. I fucking despise this game and that's not even enumerating the ludicrous amount of baffling mechanics decisions that plague it.

And don't even get me started on how disposable women have become in DNF, it's really disgusting. I never liked the fact they're helpless in 3D (except in the N64 version), but you can choose not to injure them. In DNF the game makes fun of their demise.

When Duke says something as utterly ridiculous as "nobody steals our chicks and lives", he's 100% serious about it, and the game always treats the aliens as a force to be reckoned with. In DNF the same line would be treated as a stupid joke.

It's incredible how little they understood their own character and the way his actions are portrayed. What I like a lot with Duke Nukem 3D is that while Duke is a pastiche of hypermasculine 80s heroes, he's not a parody and the game takes him as well as itself seriously overall. It works.

Easy answer: Game of Thrones Little more niche answer: From From had an incredible premise, with the show not pulling any punches. It started dropping the ball really hard in its second season, and it's been utterly meaningless since.

I forgot to mention but I finished RetroSpace over the week-end. I liked it very much, and it is a damn impressive immersive sim especially considering it is the developers' first immersive sim. It's a game I'll happily play again during my Shock and Prey marathons.

Back when I was much younger, I had invited a friend of mine for a couple of days at my parents’ house. Unbeknownst to me, he had joined the gendarmerie and was very proud of telling me he couldn’t wait to smash leftists and showed me his baton he had brought with him. We stopped being friends.

I am enjoying the stealth greatly, and I love all of the ways you can get through most areas. I'm playing on 1999 mode while pretty much killing everything I see after sneaking up on them.

Yeah RetroSpace is great. All of the issues I had witht he demo are gone. I sank three hours and didn't see time pass by. The only gripe I have with the game so far is that it's really, really dark. Too dark at times.
