In my practical experience, our UK colleagues are very badly missed at concerted action and all sorts of working parties. Obviously it was tremendous soft power, but the UK delegates were always constructive and on top of the brief. The public doesn’t realise the power of being at the table.

even in my most articulate 3am retreading of an argument I’d never be able to describe what’s going wrong here as well as this .

I don’t doubt negotiations would be tough but people in the UK should also know that quite a lot of us would welcome them back with open arms. Perhaps it’s self interest as an Irish person but I would support a most generous reaccession package if it sealed the deal. We’ve left a light on for you.

Hi 👋 Please don’t believe this one. You’d never even think that about a friend who is struggling, for whatever reason. Everyone carries different weights at different times. You are doing just fine. Your posts often cheer me up and I appreciate you.

I think you’re dead wrong. This is a car that is to be someone’s daily driver- a Range Rover alternative.

I’m not angry or upset at all about Jag’s new direction - in fact it’s great to see some boldness… but this kind of linguistic elasticity is something up with which I will not put.

I love it - great that the first vid I see of this is from the IT... But just for clarity we would NOT call it a “four door coupé”, ok? 😜

Not a great take. Far more expensive, less reliable, less safe and less practical. They’re not at all comparable options.

My first favourite F1 driver as a young Jordan fan in 91. Was as much of a star as the other car in Belgium that year and as for Mexico… 🤩 RIP to a flamboyant, exuberant thriller of a driver.

One from the archives In 1984 Dunnes shop worker Mary Manning refused to handle South African goods & was backed by her shop steward, Karen Gearon. Both were suspended. 9 colleagues came out in support. The strike lasted 3yrs & forced the Irish govt to ban the import of all SA goods. All heroes

You know what a real significant part of the problem is? queer theatre people are the absolute best! if you sew yourself a weird ideological straitjacket, you shut yourself away from the most interesting, energetic creative and dynamic people; and your life gets miserable and grey.

When three teenagers glimpsed what others dismissed as plant disease, they saw a path to solving agriculture's nitrogen problem—and the scientific establishment's skepticism only made them dig deeper.

Shocking.
NTSB graph showing the relationship between miles biked per person per year and cyclists killed per billion miles biked. There's an obvious negative trend (people bike more in place where it's safer to do so.

Religion as school admission criteria is outlawed
Minister for Education Richard Bruton has signed an order to outlaw the use of religion as a criteria for primary school admissions in almost all cases.

SJ @sj1.bsky.social · 13/08/2026
for the record this is no longer the case and Catholic schools are explicitly banned from using religion as an admission criteria. Slightly ironically, schools of minority religions, for example Jewish schools, *are* allowed to discriminate.
