So yeah, it’s unfair what City did. It’s also unfair that a team like Liverpool or United can spend as much if not more without it being an issue. But you agree to the rules of the league you play in, so that’s why this is an issue.

If we were going to really make it fair it would be more like US sports with wage caps, limits on types of players, etc, but that only works with a closed controlled league and also the very unique collegiate system filling in new players.

The football league pyramid is interesting because technically there’s nothing to stop a brand new team making their way to the PL, except for these sort of rules. It’s not a fair playing field because the historically bigger clubs with bigger fan bases and more money can keep the status quo.
