There were multiple things the Fever could control, even if they felt the refs were not being fair. AB missed some gimmes. Clark took some truly horrendous shots in the first half. After the Mitchell run to get the deficit low late in the 4th, everyone else just got stuck in no man's land on D.

I am a massive fan of Team Constructed. While I enjoy competitive Sealed, the logistics are often a nightmare and players often avoid competitive Limited. I personally would love to see some Standard/Pioneer/Modern, but I know Pioneer can be a tough sell. I liked Standard/Pauper/Modern.

Both create the same issue: creatures that do too much for their rarity slot/cost because they were not designed for 1v1 play, while creating unsatisfying play patterns where a hand is clogged with legends that are already in play, bc they were designed with the default format being singleton.

In Constructed, designing more sets around Commander means fewer design slots reserved for [insert guy with fine stats], because instead those slots are going to [insert critter with esoteric effect that is good with 4 players]. It means splashier effects leaking into Constructed gameplay.

It matters for limited, standard balance, and any format that isn't exactly Commander. When most creatures are legendary, Limited gets warped around singular bomb-ish uncommon critters, while creating bad play patterns that often include needing to make bad attacks to be able to play a creature.

Yep! There is a red/blue "control" deck that plays all of the decent/good red damage spells, and uses all of its units as removal. Otherwise, UW Blockers/Strike Freedom is the premier control deck of the format. It mostly turtles up, makes good trades, draws cards, and then slams a Strike Freedom.

Magic players evaluating their own play is the most stunning display of Dunning-Kreuger in the game. I beat Jake Beardsley in a p straight-up game at the RC in Baltimore. I would have to be FUCKING INSANE to say I was anywhere close to being as good as Jake is. If he's a 8, I'm like a 4.5.

like come on man. i have not missed an RC since the literal first two I was aware of (DH San Diego and DH ATL 2023) because I literally did not play RCQs. I have qualified for every single RC season since and won a DH 10K. ...My best finish is 6-6, which came after a 6-1 start. I am NOT THAT GOOD.

There are new Aerial cards coming in a starter deck, though I am on the fence about how good they are. But both Unicorn and GWitch have gotten like 3 waves of support across 3 colors each, so Bandai clearly wants the series to have good representation in the game.
