Yesterday and today I had many small moments feeling angry and impatient, asking "what are they thinking" about certain people. I'm reminded that is a CLEAR sign I'm the one who needs checked. If everyone around me is the problem, it's almost certainly the case that I am in fact the problem.

6 years ago today my life was changed because someone I love & who loves me said “you’re not okay, you need to get help”. It started the road back to therapy, antidepressants & anti-anxiety meds (which I still take), and recovering from years of trauma & abuse.

Today was the first day in my 3 years of pastoring this church I publicly (aka on FB) criticized Trump. I have not said anything due to fear of my congregation’s backlash. Tomorrow I have board meeting and I’m trying not to panic. It may be nothing, it may not come up. But I’m scared. Pray for me.

Maundy Thursday is when Jesus instituted the sacrament of Communion, forever giving his disciples a means of grace for their ongoing journey in following Christ. Much has been said about this sacrament, but these are the words I always return to.

I’m always reminded of this during Holy Week. It’s still one of the most powerful and formative ideas from my studies: On the cross we see God in Christ become godforsaken so that no person, place, or circumstance may be godforsaken anymore.
