Skubal can still make adjustments. Miz not finishing 5 puts a lot of stress on the pen and effects might be felt later in the series.

Of course, you still have to vote. Don't leave it up to someone else to do it for you.

You could say this about the whole Dodgers team, but someone has to just get them to the playoffs. Maybe the Dodgers just field two teams.

Dems don't. That shouldn't hurt them this fall, but they need a platform by 2028. Luckily, the presidential nomination process will do exactly that.

I think you're wrong, sir. That ball was a home run had it not hit the truss. It was still going up at a decent speed. But the rules are the rules. On to game 2.

I think I am. It won't be great for the top free agents, but, like I wrote, it'll be awesome for the mid tier. There are way, way more mid tier guys. Also, more billionaire owners will have to pay more than billionaire owners who will pay less. And, it'll make the sport better.

It's going to happen and I'm all for it. It'll be godsend for mid-level FAs and make the sport more competitive.

Of course she is. She'll go a long way to minimize the financial advantage that the Dodgers have. It also feeds into her stance against the salary cap. Luckily, it's still gonna be a thing come 2027.

On paper, Milwaukee offered more. Detroit just really wanted Hope as well as the pitchers.

In late August, I had a feeling he'd be awesome in the playoffs. The Dodgers simply don't care about the regular season. They're there to turn it on for the playoffs. It'll be a 3-peat and they're the favorites for 2027 (if there's a season).

I've watched Counsell this season. Did an outstanding job working thru massive pitching injuries. But, his body language in the playoffs is terrible. He looks nervous and his team played like it. He's a great manager (small m), but a terrible leader.

The first two were. The second stimulus was signed into law Dec 27, 2020. That being said, the third stimulus was a mistake and it was the biggest one. The with that being said, we are way past the impacts of that stimulus and Hassett is full of shit.

I checked out of pop country because it's so unbearably generic. I listened to that song. It's fine, but I never need to hear it again. There's nothing special about it & that's exactly why it's such a tremendous hit. It nailed generic. There's no more generic that could have been put in that song.

We are very segregated across the board musically and that's sad. I don't see an album like "Rumours" and the cultural impact it made (for half a century!) being made again.

I heard it for the first time yesterday. I listen to a lot of music, mostly thru Sirius, but none of the stations I go to play it. Of course, that's true for a lot of top hits across genres.

A lot of the innovation tied to AI is done under the premise of "We need to do X because the Chinese will beat us." I'm at the stage that maybe we let them. It's eating our soul. Maybe when politicians make that argument (and it's not wrong), we say that's fine.

For sure. Again, no argument from me that early precautions weren't vital. They were. My argument, in retrospect, was that they went too long and that extention caused unnecessary harm in many areas.

But those "coattails" were applicable across the country. He pushed the envelope where others didn't. No argument from me that those coattails weren't important. They were. Without that sacrifice, the rest wouldn't have been possible.

Also, it's not that some weren't calling this out in real time. DeSantis, for example, was pushing to open quicker, did open quicker, and, in retrospect, looks prescient now. I'm not a DeSantis supporter, but I also think it's important to call out those that got some things right.

sirhpflashman.bsky.social @sirhpflashman.bsky.social · 04/09/2026
Agreed. It's way easier in retrospect. But it is clear now there was an overreaction and that overreaction did have negative consequences and not just "inconvenience". Children lost valuable months in classrooms, for example.

The best thing for the game is a cap and minimum. A high minimum would be best for the mid range players. I don't care about the top players. They'll do fine. If the game does better and the owners make more, that's great too. But the best thing for the game is a cap and minimum.

You still need to parties to make the deal and it doesn't have to be zero sum. Both can win and so can the game.
