I remember my dad spouting off some conspiracy theory over 10 years ago about how some dude made an engine run off of water, but the gas corpos disappeared him.

I do feel like if everyone suddenly shifted to EVs all at once though, the demand for all those materials would cause an echoing destructive effect through all points of production and transport. We should work towards both clean-burning fuels and more sustainable EV production.

I think there is a lot possibly lost in translation, but they do seem to have a one-track attitude about it. We can’t deny that fossil fuels are killing us though. We’ve blown through so many points of no return that it’s hard to imagine the human race unfucking the planet ecologically.

This is auto-translating to German, so I can’t predict the accuracy of the translation. Waiting for a wrecking service may not be an option. Or it may not be affordable for most. But a can of gas in the back of your car is easy and efficient. There are no perfect solutions.

Ideally, it would be nice if we had hybrids that can work sole off of electricity, but in a pinch you can throw some fuel into a built-in generator to get you to the next station.

Sipher @sipher.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
You’re being obtuse. Accidents happen, and also people are idiots. The fact is that you can carry spare fuel in your car, and that’s fairly economically affordable. As far as I know they don’t have spare batteries or a way of easily recharging your vehicle fairly quickly if it loses charge.

Sipher @sipher.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
Until they find less destructive ways of pulling the required materials out of the ground, and doing so ethically, it’s actually better to have both types of vehicles available. I would trade my car in for an EV easily, but it’s not that simple. Not everyone has the cash for EV’s either.

The new Resident Evil was good. Not fantastic or anything. It didn’t really break any barriers or set any records in my book. But it was fun, and strangely comedic? The virus in this movie is one of the most horrifying. But I’m a sucker for slow and stupid zombies.

Trump would be in prison right now for that shit he pulled right before the election with false electors scheme, but the American people couldn’t stomach the thought of women president. The democrats are also to blame. They need a good candidate, but they only want to run establishment folks.

Checks and balances. McConnell fucked it up for everyone by withholding a SCOTUS seat, and then someone died. Trump elected three cronies to the highest court in the land. SCOTUS MAGA supermajority = no restraints. Trump keeps tipping the scale with no repercussions.

Trump wants to erect all these remembrances of himself. Obviously, he doesn't know that 2 out of every 3 people in this country hate him. All his remembrances will end up like Saddam Hussein's. Pulled down by the people. We don't want to remember him. We want to spit on his grave.

Because people with fragile egos would rather roll their guilt into a prank on someone else rather than introspect on their own moral failings. Just another way of pushing people down to feel better about themselves.

I’m not done with him until I see him in a jail cell watching as the government strips all his assets away for corruption and fraud. I don’t want him to die, there’s no justice in that. He needs to feel the harm he’s caused 100 fold. It’ll probably never happen. But a man can hope.

That’s because the Republican Party is split. They’re struggling with an identity crisis, where they have to decide if they are the Republican Party of old, or if they’re gonna be Trumps MAGA party. Either way, I they only want to vote republican, but that word has all but lost meaning.

Anybody hoping Trump will face justice, probably didn’t vote for him in either election. In fact, if you’re on this website, you’re probably only talking to people who hate him. So more than anything, you’re kinda just talking down to people who already and perhaps always hated the pedo in chief.

He showed everyone that as long as you have the power, you’re not only allowed to, but you are entitled to be as petty, spiteful and destructive as you can get away with. He has done far too much to be labeled as a simple symptom.

Tribalism has always been a thing, and always will be. But Trump completely eliminated the center of politics. Yes, there is a deep underlying problem in America. Trump is a glaring poster boy of what a truly selfish person can be, given the power.

Sipher @sipher.bsky.social · 21/08/2026
I disagree. Trump is both, the problem and the symptom. He did not cause all the racism, xenophobia and corruption. But he was a catalyst and is an omen. One man/party should not have this much influence/power to destroy the USA in the ways that’s happened/happening.

I figure the tone would be more laid back/aloof. But as far as voice, I’d picture something like Inuyasha’s eng va (Richard Ian Cox). Something that’s slightly high, but with a small amount of gruffness. The gruffness would increase with excitement.

Skwank, Sasquatch, Mothman, lots of cryptids. Depending on your definition of American, you can include some Native American horrors in there, like the wendigo. America is a relatively young nation, so we don’t have a huge history to draw on.

I remember some of the folks from before. A lot of them were more interested in arguing rather than drawing. It’s not surprising a lot turned out to be insufferable, considering where they came from. I’m glad you didn’t let that place tear you down too much, it was a very toxic place at times.

I’m just gonna post my reply in the Alt Text because character limit is abhorrent. Sorry for the book. Tl;dr- Yes, our country has done and is doing horrible things. But there is a difference between accepting that, and working to change for a better nation while acknowledging it.
Picture is of a dirty stained American flag upside down.

I don’t even like fireworks all that much. But some friends invited me out. Everyone there was celebrating different things.

I celebrated living in a time and place that allows me to have such celebrations while being totally opposed to the ones in charge. I celebrated being with friends who are like-minded. We even played a little Magic: The Gathering.

We were joined by their neighbors who combined firework stockpiles for a show that rivaled the city’s.

It’s important that we celebrate today. Not because we are some great nation, or that the government is doing a great job.
It’s important because we are still here, and still alive. It’s because we have the freedom to criticize our government. It’s because in a few years, we’re going to do our duty, go to the polls and vote for someone who (at least outwardly) reflects our values.

We can’t allow doom, gloom, and nihilism completely rule our outlook on our home country. Our ancestors did horrible things to make sure this country was a thing. We owe a blood-debt that will never be paid off to the original inhabitants of this nation. Our nation is in such awful peril right now of changing in every way for the worst.

But it hasn’t yet.
We’re still here.

Being a patriot doesn’t mean agreeing with everything that your country has done. Nor does it mean loyalty to a specific party or group. It means loving your country despite its flaws, vast troubled history and working to make it a better place for everyone.

We can’t erase the sins of our past, or present. But we exist in a time and place where we can rally together and change this country for the better place going forward. Not everyone has that freedom. In some places speaking out against the government can get you put in jail or worse. Some nations have dictators.

We don’t. Not yet.
I think that’s worth celebrating.

I’m not saying the Egyptian men were on the right. I don’t know the rules, and I don’t know if he was called or just came up like he did. But the officer had to be restrained by a colleague, and let his emotions rule his actions. He needs more training and self-control.

Sipher @sipher.bsky.social · 03/07/2026
The officer was doing his job, POORLY. The correct response to this situation is to act in a manner that diffuses the situation and reinforces the rules. Instead he came in, immediately resorted to physically maneuvering people around. People don’t take kindly to that.

Your time is wasted better arguing with the opposition than arguing pedantically about some “gotcha” with someone you’d likely get along with in real life.
