Some early animation for one of my creatures. Still rough, but not too bad. But I’ve got a good pipeline setup in Houdini to rig these 2D characters from my artist now. #playdate #veros #indiegame #indiedev

What playtime would you look for on a narrative game for #playdate? 2 hours? 4 hours? Longer? #indiegame #indiedev #verosgame

You can render the room twice! Render with your lighting pass (sky visible etc), then set viewport to transparent, no sky visible, transparent mode enabled in render settings, and render it out again, and use the resulting alpha channel.

So I have pre-baked bitmaps, black base, white pixels. I have 5 flicker variants of these (each have a different radius, and I cycle through them every ~0.1s), drawn in BlackTransparent mode (avoids paying alpha mask cost). (I actually have 4 sizes of these, so ~20 bitmaps total)

Are you using lua or C? I do a similar dither lighting effect (in C) and it gets pretty good performance.

That’s awesome! I also have a Godot to Playdate pipeline, it really works so well. Looking forward to seeing what you’re building

Melee class’ crank mechanic charges a damage boost. You get more segments (and thus more damage) as you level. Also spent a long time tracking down some performance issues, drawRotatedBitmap is way more costly than it should be…. #playdate #indiedev #indiegame

The Resonance Shrine, an area where you can upgrade your skills, save your game and more. Still a work in progress but I’m liking the effect of getting into it. #playdate #indiedev #indiegame

Working on a little game for my #playdate Just an arpg set in the same universe as my Godot game. I’m liking how it is looking. #indiedev #indiegame

Been working on #Houdini / #godotengine integrations. The Houdini Engine integration is supporting marshalling geo in/out and most params. Here I got VATs working for rigid body, soft body, and fluids. #indiegame #gamedev

Terrain scattering in Godot Engine. Started on my custom terrain streaming system, chunks the world into cells, and can dynamically load as the player traverses. Additionally points are baked per cell and async load in nodes/scenes/instances. #indiedev #indiegame #godot #godotengine
