Learning French made me realise how amazing kids are for picking up new languages quickly. Who drilled baby Akhi into remembering to match adjectives with the right gender and singular/plural form in the Elezen tongue? What black magic was used to make him fluent?

The artists and animators carried the Avatar Aang movie hard. The plot needed more time to cook and felt kinda rushed but I’ll be real I was here for Zuko’s facecards.

It was also mentioned that some men with lighter facemarks might use makeup to make their markings more obvious.

Addendum to marking lore, this was from a ARR panel in at a Nico Nico Douga event in Japan. It reaffirms the lore of male miqo’tes being born with varying degrees of facemarks. Some have lighter, others have darker facemarks. youtu.be/Ywhrvbf8MN0?...

Heartbroken by Berlin Pride🇩🇪 Despite any pressure, Chiitan stands with good-hearted LGBT people They only want to live truly & love freely not luxury, but quiet soul-led lives. Chiitan keeps sharing this until they live calmly, authentically & proudly🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

I am truly heartbroken by what happened at Berlin Pride🇩🇪
No matter what incidents occur or how much pressure is applied, Chiitan will always stand with all the good-hearted LGBT people.

Good LGBT people simply want to live as their true selves and love the people they wish to love.

They seek neither expensive cars nor expensive houses—only to live quietly and peacefully, following the feelings of their own soul.

Until the day comes when LGBT people can live calmly, authentically, and with pride, Chiitan will continue to share this message.🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

I think this has plenty of potential to explore nuances around gender and appearance in-game or in RP, and I've seen many people do that already. Do I still think males without the face markings look kinda peeled though? Yes. Is that toxic masculinity on my part? Maybe?

110

Jules @sinofelis.bsky.social · 26/07/2026

Male face markings is a lot shakier compared to other lore facts, but I won't say it's worth invalidating. If anything it's mentioned that there are individual differences, so there's room for variation much like many other physical features in-game and IRL.

I did some digging on miqo'te face marking lore. This was the closest link I could get since the original citation looked like an old broken forum link. I wasn't able to find any equivalents in other languages. www.tumblr.com/aeyshn/13952...

I recommend writing a novel to anyone creative, has characters who they are unhealthily obsessed with and enjoy the feeling of being in labour 24/7.

get more passionate. that's my advice. being an artist is super lonely. being a writer is the loneliest. mapping out the wrinkles of your brain and sharing it with the world is vulnerable, especially when no one else seems to care, but passion is the secret. get so passionate it doesn't even matter.

When you believe your way of life is not just the most ideal way but any other way is going to invite collective punishment by the Elementals on everyone, it's a recipe for bad blood between communities. Even between the same race.

000

Jules @sinofelis.bsky.social · 29/05/2026

For some communities their way of life aligns with Gridania's laws, some might choose to make adjustments or compromise, some will reject them because they're in direct conflict. The Trappers' Guild regulations are reasonable to some, but impossible to others who depend entirely on hunting.

100

Jules @sinofelis.bsky.social · 29/05/2026

Material benefits (trade, legal recognition of local communities) are the main reason why there’s a sizeable Duskwight and Keeper population that choose to be close with Gridania. There’s also plenty of them working behind the scenes to promote goodwill between the races.
