- having the pathway to citizenship by merit include how you plan to keep contributing to Malta after citizenship - presumably have a bunch of rich people apply. - stand ready to strip them of citizenship for fraud on their application if they ever stop donating money

The funniest worldwide immigration situation is Malta: - getting in trouble for selling EU citizenship by investment - being told they need to stop doing it - discontinuing it but immediately starting a new “citizenship by merit” program

Reverse Jeremy Thatcher Dragon Hatcher simulator — you run a mysterious store that teleports around and sells overpowered magical objects to tweens.

We did a mid-year candidate swap a couple years ago, so I see no reason why we should break tradition by not having Kamala Harris replace Platner.

I guess I’m just impressed they mainly keep it civil? As much as I like the idea of being a Union re-enactor I feel like I’d strongly dislike the Confederate re-enactors.

I think you could get an amendment through to allow a majority vote of the House of Reps to replace the President. But you’d only be able to get it ratified by Republican states when there’s a Republican majority and a Democrat President.

The funny thing with the Ford example is that it was actually 2010s-era custom-trained machine learning rather than LLMs or generative AI.

Kind of curious how you feel this shakes out for rent stabilization that caps annual rent increases at 7-10% — it seems like there should be a cap level that lets it adjust to demand but still would be desirable ex ante for future renters.

This reminds me of a time awhile back where I was at a tollbooth. I threw my quarters in and started to drive forward. I realized to my horror that at least one coin had missed and started frantically throwing quarters from ten feet away. I don’t even know how much it took before it turned green.

“This is a group CNC event attended by a random cross-section of people who don’t link it to their everyday lives” feels much further from rape culture than “this is a group CNC event that many organizational and industry leaders participate in, BTW only horrible people report trauma.”

I’d heard of RMN previously, but the parts I found worse were: -Brodski’s post about how terrible people coming forward about trauma were. - Yudkowsky’s executive assistant being the organizer for a CNC event that he attended. - people viewing it as networking that’s important for their career.

NEW! Today we @immcouncil.org released our new framework for a credible and humane interior immigration enforcement system. What does that look like? It starts with four basic principles: - Compliance - Safety - Proportionality - Accountability

1. Compliance: Government Should Make Rules that People Can Follow, and Get People to Follow the Rules
2. Safety: Law Enforcement Should Protect Communities from Threats, Not Treat the Community as a Threat
3. Proportionality: Consequences for Violations of Civil Immigration Laws Should Be Tailored, Reasonable, and Humane
4. Accountability: Agencies and Agents That Abuse Their Power Should Be Reined In or Pushed Out
