I've been in the highest levels of game dev boardrooms and the publishing conversation turned to the elimination of people for preproduction jobs or writing nearly overnight. Completely skipping over the creative potential or human side of the equation.

It seems more like a shopping app to me. Now everyone can "order" an image and call themselves an artist? It's like me ordering a pizza and calling myself a chef. Because I was "skilled" at toppings my pizza tasted better.

I agree with you, I just think AI takes more squinting to see the good through the terrible than anything before it. I just don't equate AI with a tool like a paintbrush or even a Photoshop brush.

I also use a lot of glaze layers and scumbling. For whatever reason, the varnish really lets those layers of process pop out. Little moments of underpainting peek out where I have sanded or washed.

I'm working off an initial sketch. I also have an image in my head that serves as the current goal. Spontaneous things will happen along the way. I'm also working back to front. The houses in the back required a lot of "dirty" texture so I'll paint them before I work on the guy.
