More photos from my visit to Lakewood. It is such a beautiful, peaceful place for a stroll or, for me, an easy place to drive close to scenic benches.

A large willow is reflected perfectly in the pond.

Shoreline of pond showing pines and cotton clouds also perfectly reflected in the pond.

Met the tamest hawk ever! Could not have cared less that we gawped and took photos. I was able to go on a short outing today and visited one of my favorite places, Lakewood Cemetery.

On a lush green lawn and Red Tailed Hawk (I think) just hanging on the lawn.

Olga insists I draw her next. Shhh, I did a silly drawing of my grandkitty instead.

A silly pencil drawing of a large black cats face.

A majestic large black cat with glow in the dark eyes.

Look how happy my new friend is! I loved the last batch, so it’s another round of Walnut-Raisin loaf.

Is it possible to fall in love with an entire building’s community? Yes. Yes, it is. To welcome me home from the hospital, the Sunshine Committee prepared two meals for me. Tonight is Leek Soup, fresh fruit, and lemon bars. This building, this community is amazing.

On a beautiful metal tray is a bowl of leek soup with chives, fruit and lemon bars.

This sweet kitty has mastered a sly and hostile maneuver. She waits until the split second before I take a sip of hot coffee, then she nudges my hand for scritches.

My grey cat lay next to me on my sofa. She looks SOOOOO innocent.

Status Update: been in hospital since Saturday. I continue to baffle everyone. I’ve lost two roommates so far, neither to discharge so maybe I’m cursed. My current roomie is just lovely. We passed the afternoon talking about St Catherine of Siena, as she is named after her. Her expression is FAFO

Statue of St Catherine of Siena. She wasn't a nun, but is wearing what looks like religious mantle. Her face says, "FAFO."

I have complicated health conditions, including pain. Now than I can decorate my own space, I find ivory/beige tones soothing. It helps that I have a large mature maple outside my windows.

I prefer to think Dorothy Thompson is using this hand gesture in the British sense.

Gonna take my bedroom decorating cues from Frida Kahlo, with obvious exceptions.

Artist during a period she had to lay flat on her back, as I do. She has her hair done and is working on the painting of her family, 1950

I’ve tried many before, but this is the first graphic novel to grab me and make me want to go forward. No surprise given the subject matter. Love to hear people’s thoughts and/or recommendations for others in this vein. I’m after four ER visits I’m on 24 hour bed rest. Need more BOOKS!

So bored. But, they have a scavenger hunt on the floor. A nurse has made all these funny, charming miniature dioramas. I’ve found all but four. Guess I do have something to do this afternoon. God save them if I have to stay the weekend.

Someone won’t let me try my newest attempt to finally sit for more than three minutes. This is actually true. I can’t sit on anything for more than three minutes. This one is designed for people confined to wheelchairs. It cost nearly as much as my cheapo sofa.

Thanks. I was forced to abandon it with just the one eponymous one left. When I reviewed my photos recently, I realized this current flare started well before I was even aware of it. But, not to worry. I will, finally, make the Jungle Pizza to end my #pizzajungle challenge. And, hooboy!

I’m finally, finally, finally able to listen to music again. Or, at least I could for part of today. The first thing I listened to is this album. Adam Levy is an old and now lost (my fault) friend. This album by the Honeydogs really deserves either a re-listen… open.spotify.com/track/5BN1Nm...

Don’t know if you’ll see this, but both my kids earned two BA’s in English and one earned another degree in teaching English, which is called Language Arts in Minnesota. My BA and PhD was in American Studies, where the study of literature and writing was elemental. We are all terrified about AI.
