Very happy to share Sina Mohtasebi’s 2nd PhD publication. This one compares strongyle community composition inferred from morphological identification of adult worms and nemabiome data in horses from northern Iran beva.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

Excited to share that our paper on Hsiungia pekingensis, a rare equine strongyle, is now published in the Journal of Helminthology! Special thanks to my supervisors and collaborators for their support. Classical and molecular parasitology in harmony! doi.org/10.1017/S002...

Congratulations to @sinamohtasebi.bsky.social for his 1st PhD publication 👏: A phylogenetic analysis of a rare equine strongyle and re-analysis of public nemabiome datasets to learn more about the distribution of the species doi.org/10.1017/S002...

The first paper from my PhD is out in Parasitology! Using DNA metabarcoding, I show patterns of parasite infection in Sable Island horses! It's open access, so go check it out! doi.org/10.1017/S003...

We successfully held our Equine Parasitology Workshop at UCVM, bringing together DVM and grad students for an engaging day of learning and hands-on experience. The workshop covered everything from classic parasitology techniques to cutting-edge diagnostics like nemabiome analysis. 🐎🪱 #Parasitology

There probably aren’t enough equine scientists here yet for such a request, but I may as well try anyway: We are very keen to receive equine strongyle L3 cultures from around the globe for nemabiome analyses. If this is something you would like to contribute to feel free to get in touch!

Hi everyone! I'm Sina, a PhD candidate at the University of Calgary. My research focuses on equine gastrointestinal strongyle parasites, examining their molecular diversity and characterizing them using advanced techniques like nemabiome metabarcoding alongside traditional morphology.
