Something maybe to consider when you (rightfully) tell someone calling themselves an “AI artist” that they are worthless and stupid: this person is a product of a society that has given itself wholly over to this cycle of data farms and brain rot and environmental apocalypse, because that is normal.

I think that if you exist mostly in the realm of art-making and art-discussing, you don’t see how indelibly it’s embedded in every other market and industry, where “quality” is an objective, statistical standard. In only a few years, it has become irrevocable.

I’ve been thinking a lot about AI, because outside of art and art criticism circles—where it’s openly derided by even someone like Travis Knight—AI has become all-consuming. At my job, every single person uses it, and is encouraged to use it, and must constantly hear about its benefits.
