The "real Marxists" on substack who I wrote a piece asking if the criticism of the DSA and the recent primary victories was rooted in reality of the United States, its post-1970s history, and the current material conditions that constrain any alternative. All I've received is reductionism.

How can you claim to be a radical while behaving so reactionary?
I apologize for my first comment. Blood and soil is a nazi sentiment. I am from Ky, where every strikebreaker cop klansman and senator is “at least 1/18th cherokee”, blood does not represent connection to land or community. It represents a vital part of how humans evolve to material circumstances but it does not, in and of itself represent indigeneity. The association of blood to land has been complicated by colonialism and eugenics and i over reacted to the defense of this white guy with a ridiculous blood quantum straight outta brazil, who in your mind, defended the colonial project beyond all reason or sense of humanity. Hows aboutta “death to america!” For all our comrades. Even if symbolic, it does more than the symbolism of electoralism can.

It’s so low effort. This is redbaiting propaganda, first of all, and it’s poorly written. The first line contradicts the third.
CALGARY HERALD

The federal NDP, now run by cis male Avi Lewis, showed us two kinds of crazy at their leadership convention on the weekend.
First, there was social crazy, with arguments over whose victimized aomity deserved time at the artc.
Delegates who have identified with the same gender assigned at birth - "cis" people - didn't have much chance.
Then came economic crazy. Lewis's economic nations border on 2oth-century communism.

I get what is being said, but the writing is unnecessarily convoluted. The idea, however, is interesting and makes me want to get more of the argument. I just wish it was more clear and to the point.

The Joint Statement by the three parties is weak. We need to be absolutely unequivocally clear about one thing. It is AMERICANS and ISRAELIS who should be advocating for revolutionary defeatism, not the people of Iran.

We must always fight imperialism at every level on every continent. I do believe it is the greatest threat to humanity, not least because it makes people abandon theirs. It is a long essay, but I think it’s well worth the read. Please check it out if you have the time.

Most people think exploitation means low wages or bad bosses. For Marx, it means something far more structural: profit itself depends on surplus labor. Rising wages don’t eliminate exploitation. They can intensify it. New essay: open.substack.com/pub/simplify...

Fun fact: Harry Truman vetoed the Taft-Hartley Act, calling it a "slave-labor bill." Unfortunately, the majority of his party in Congress disagreed with that assessment and voted to pass the legislation anyway. Notable opponents included progressive Vito Marcantonio & populist Wayne Morse.
