Donald Trump does not understand Vladimir Putin. Trump thinks that it’s a land deal - Ukraine gives up territory already taken by Russia, and peace ensues. For Putin it’s about sovereignty - he has stated before that Ukraine has no right to exist, so he won’t stop until Ukraine no longer exists.
