There's been a few that played for both teams Last direct transfer was Phil Chisnall in the 60s

Some of our fans are crazy. I mean apart from him being 27, massively inconsistent and we have miles better players than him. There hasn't been a transfer between United and Liverpool for over half a century

MNF (Thierry Henry & Carragher) analysis of LFC v Fulham (Slots tactics) and Arsenal v Everton (Arteta tactics) was excellent

Arsenal score a huge amount of their goals from set pieces All good teams rely on them but they do seem to score more than anyone I can remember seeing before

76 v Norwich was my first home game First match I went to was an Everton one at Goodison (probably a couple of months before) they absolutely battered someone 4 or 5-0 but can't remember who it was

Borrowing a milk crate from the dairy/sweet shop on Rockfield Rd and standing on it at the front of the Anny Rd end (where the current away fans are) is one of my earliest memories of going to a reds game

My grandad used to take me as he was a blue I would go there one week and he would take me to watch the reds the following week late 70s/very early 80s

Well that was gonna be my next point Konate, Jones & Diaz I think will be in the last 2 years of their contracts in the summer I think it's very tight with these SCR rules and FSG are probably being over cautious as well but it's defo a factor and a big one
010
Simon Roberts @simonroberts1972.bsky.social · 02/12/2024
I personally think it's a big factor Doesn't mean we can't get them all done but I suspect we won't be giving all 3 of them "what they want"
110
Simon Roberts @simonroberts1972.bsky.social · 02/12/2024
Correct There's unknown factors in this Difference between Klopp and Slot wages Thiago, Matip, Carvalho VDB wages off books transfers out Chiesa in (and the keeper) How much Revenue has increased Plus Simon Hughes says Salah thinks he's the best in the world and wants his wages to reflect that
110
Simon Roberts @simonroberts1972.bsky.social · 02/12/2024
UEFAs Squad Cost Ratio So your wages, plus transfer fees, plus agents fees minus sales must be max 70% of your total Revenue Look at that graph from 2022.....I think we are very close to that 70% level so don't have a lot of wriggle room
100
Simon Roberts @simonroberts1972.bsky.social · 02/12/2024
I think the UEFA SCR are a major factor in this We've lost some big earners Klopp & staff, plus Thiago & Matip and sold Carvalho & VDB..but we have brought in Slot and Chiesa Here's Swiss Rambles view from 2023

I remember listening to the Beatles albums whikst a student in the early 90s with my then girlfriend and her commenting that the music was over 20 years old but was still great, fresh, relevant Another 30 years later and I have to say she was right then and for me it's still great, fresh & relevant

Simon Roberts @simonroberts1972.bsky.social · 25/11/2024
Could be, I actually think there's a wider view. Lots of clubs were less active this summer, I think there's a general nervousness around PSR/SCR and it's making most clubs act more cautiously
000
Simon Roberts @simonroberts1972.bsky.social · 25/11/2024
Or maybe an event occurred (Rodri injury) that has pressured players already declining
110
Simon Roberts @simonroberts1972.bsky.social · 25/11/2024
I think it was interesting last night on MOTD they showed a graphic on Citys decline What was interesting was the decline started last year and it's become a drop off Surely City should have seen that coming with all the metrics? Or maybe they thought it would be more gradual.....
100
Simon Roberts @simonroberts1972.bsky.social · 25/11/2024
You see I am not sure they did.. They could probably see his downfall in real time but predicting it beforehand I am not convinced Also when does a decline become a complete drop off
100
Simon Roberts @simonroberts1972.bsky.social · 25/11/2024
I am also but you just don't know 100% for certain I think this is one metric that even the computer news might struggle to create an algorithm for
100
Simon Roberts @simonroberts1972.bsky.social · 25/11/2024
I also think some of the stories about Klopp (Antony for instance) that have clearly been dropped by Edwards..... If he's gonna do that sort of thing he better get these contracts or the replacements spot on
030
Simon Roberts @simonroberts1972.bsky.social · 25/11/2024
Edwards is on charge of all football related matters for FSG
000
Simon Roberts @simonroberts1972.bsky.social · 25/11/2024
You just don't know Fab dropped off a cliff as did Hendo It's a risk but that risk has to be weighed against cost of replacement and whether they can replicate Salahs and Virgs output Fab & Hendo were easier to replace imo
200
Simon Roberts @simonroberts1972.bsky.social · 25/11/2024
Agreed, I said the other day that I only truly believed we would win the league last time when we were 15/16 points clear That said City have dropped off from an already slightly waning level (see below MOTD graphic)
110
Simon Roberts @simonroberts1972.bsky.social · 25/11/2024
It's 67% of our goals But your point still stands I am just pedantic 😂
110
Simon Roberts @simonroberts1972.bsky.social · 25/11/2024
My personal point of view is it's gonna be hard to replace/replicate their current output The pressure is on Edwards/Hughes to either do the deals or get the replacements right
100
Simon Roberts @simonroberts1972.bsky.social · 25/11/2024
The one thing I would say is there's been leaks about Klopp considering replacing Salah with Antony the last time he was nearing contract expiry If Edwards the club are gonna leak this they better get things right on these deals (Salah,VVD & Trent) or if not they better get the replacements right
210
Simon Roberts @simonroberts1972.bsky.social · 25/11/2024
There's always 2 sides to every story The players and agents are mercenaries and the clubs are just as bad
020
Simon Roberts @simonroberts1972.bsky.social · 25/11/2024
The counter argument to this is you don't know how quick the drop off will be Fabinho, Hendo etc even City are seeing drop offs with their players Also I don't trust the players/agents they are mercenaries and there's always 2 sides to every stoy
120
Simon Roberts @simonroberts1972.bsky.social · 25/11/2024
My 2 pence on the contracts FSG clearly have a policy regarding getting rid of players at a certain age More often than not they will be right into this However with Salah and probably also Virgil it is going to be hard to replicate their current output So maybe they will have to be more flexible
