- What sounds good in a novel or on paper doesn't necessarily translate well into an illustration - The lower the rate, the more annoying the client. The higher the rate the easier the client. It's wild, but it's true

- Standard CMYK is also NOT a thing! If you want the file delivered in a CMYK profile, send over your printers profile. We can't proof print ourselves otherwise - Most if not all client work is a result of certain expectations, product and/or licensor requirements - Personal art is really important

A couple of observations after 3 years of working in commercial entertainment art: - Actual good art directors are surprisingly rare ( Shout-out to all my fav AD's, you know who you are! ) - Showing a 2 Minute movie scene in 1 still image is NOT a thing - Proper art briefs are also surprisingly rare

Angel of the Cycle. Personal artwork of mine, started as a MtG style assignment in Winona Nelson's Smarterartschool class wayy back in winter. I tinkered with it on and off over the months, between freelance work. Now it's finally finished! :D

A female black-winged angel carrying a scythe staff. Her face is beautiful, but a part of it is blackened and mummified, and she lifts a black lace veil to reveal it. Her outfit displays a similar marring on her body: one of her hands is only bones. She wears her decay with pride as she regards us. Bats fly around her, their heads are skulls.

Probably takes a bit to find the exact dose I guess. I'm curious, since I always feared it would somehow take away the creative spark or whatever. But I heard it's good if you really need to focus for a longer period of time.
