Old enough to remember when Republicans used to criticize voters for voting for Democrats because they were promised free stuff.

Kids used to ask adults to go into the store and buy them beer, now they'll be asking them to go into the library to check out their books.

Keep in mind this is not 1/3 of the class of 2028. It includes students who may be 2nd, 3rd, or 4th time 9th graders, being retained again.

Saying this out loud now: we're not going to hear anything about this in most media until the day after the midterms, when every news story will change to, "Economy tanks under democratic stewardship. How will the Dem pres candidate convince votes when their leadership made everyone poor?"

Trump's gutting of AmeriCorps hits hard, for both volunteers and communities
The Trump administration slashed funding for the national service agency and fired most of its staff. 32,000 people, mostly young adults, were forced to stop work immediately.

What G-d "cares about" or "wants" is unknowable and is furthermore irrelevant. G-d's EXISTENCE is irrelevant to the eruv. But rules like these can still have a profound and beautiful effect on the people who observe them.

Simon Birenbaum @simonbirenbaum.bsky.social · 19/06/2026
The point of interpretations like this is not the effect they have on G-d and what G-d wants, but the effect they have on us. An eruv is a reminder that we create a community. Maintaining the eruv is a reminder of the care we should take to make sure everyone in our community can participate.

All of this is true, as are the many similar things being said on this issue. But it only becomes salient to voters if there's an opposition saying all the time, every day, "This is weak loser shit and these people should be embarrassed." But Dems don't do that!

Strong evidence that the shooters at the mosque in San Diego yesterday held both Islamophobic and antisemitic beliefs. Our safety is bound up together, no matter how much politicians may try to divide us.
"NBC News: Investigators are trying to authenticate a 75 page document possibly left behind by the suspects involved in yesterday’s shooting at a mosque in San Diego.

If true, the documents are hateful, anti-Islamic, anti-Semitic, and espouse the views of accelerationists."

All the partisan gerrymandering was always (in part) racial gerrymandering, because the parties' politics were always (in part—but large part) about race. So when you tell Southern legislatures "you can do partisan gerrymandering, but no racial gerrymandering," they know it means they can do both.

Funny how after every SCOTUS ruling striking down some protection from government abuse, the officials those protections restrained — cops, prosecutors, Republican state electeds — immediately start acting in the precise manner SCOTUS assured us they no longer do.

Jews take note: the Evangelical alliance with Catholics was only so they could align on hating gays and abortion. They are trying the same thing with Jews and Israel. But they have deep hatred of both groups and will turn against either as soon as they can.

I wonder also if this means a political party can position itself as explicitly racist, then justify racist gerrymandering as a political, rather than racist, intent.

"Online fans have opinions" isn't news. "A man who is clearly a disgusting bigot was given the keys to the government" is a much bigger story!

It also frames the story as about people's reactions (who cares what his fans think?) as opposed to what the richest and one of the most powerful man on Earth is saying and advocating.

Millennials "assumed" that society "owed" then the opportunities that their parents had had. Instead, those very same parents hoarded resources and blamed the *children* for not doing better.

No matter what boomers *assumed*, they actually *were* given everything! Cheap education and housing, booming economy, union jobs, pensions, etc. They took that and pulled the ladder up behind them, while blaming millennials for their failure to thrive in a world they controlled.
