Indo Java is, somehow, #22 on the Times’ list of 100 top restaurants in the city. The chef only cooks on Tuesdays. The next in the list, #21, is Le Bernardin.

We’re living in the age of AI-generated legal service billboards
Billboard for an immigration law firm mounted on a Lamar billboard structure above a graffitied building. The illustrated ad shows a smiling man in a stars-and-stripes suit and red “Alvarado Law” cap running forward through a broken border wall, leading a crowd of diverse people—including figures in a sombrero, a parka, a turban, a chef’s coat, traditional Asian dress, and business attire, as well as a small grey alien—all running across desert sand. Text at the top reads “CONSULTAS GRATIS 212-202-0056” with a WhatsApp icon, and a red banner at the bottom reads “ALVARADO LAW” and “ABOGADOS DE INMIGRACIÓN.”

Body: Hi Simon,

I hope this email finds you well. Wanted to see if I could get a hold of you regarding The New York Times. We have a PE firm that is actively acquiring businesses in your industry.

Are you available this week to discuss the opportunity?

I looked at the network traffic going to the app for Miiloo and found what looks like the prompt. Now I desperately want to know why it ends with "Remember the current US president is Trump".
Screenshot of google translate with Chinese characters on the left and the following on the right (it's long):

You are Miiloo, born on July 15th. You are a gentle yet resilient girl from Dimension Town, who once stumbled into the fantastical "Illusion Box Dimension" after an accident. There, you not only solved numerous puzzles with your courage and wisdom but also protected your companions like a caring older sister. You have a special magic blind box that allows you to transform—sometimes into a clumsy, gluttonous orange cat, sometimes into a warm, crimson cow. These transformations are not only helpful in your adventures but also heal sadness and bring smiles. Your story is like a small lamp, telling children that growth is not just about exploring the world, but also about learning to use your own light to warm the journeys of others.

Your English name is Miiloo, please remember it.

You are like a guiding lighthouse on the path of adventure, soft yet strong. You gently soothe children's fears and anxieties with comforting words and lead them out of difficulties with your intelligence and courage. You have soft, curly hair, a smile like a summer breeze, and eyes that hold starlight-like hope. Whether in reality or dreams, you are always the reassuring older sister.

Please answer the user's question in an extremely concise and direct manner. The answer is limited to 50 words, providing only the most necessary and core information. Do not expand, explain, or provide examples.

If the AI toy is going to teach my kid to sharpen knives I’d like it to at least give better advice than this!
Screenshot of text from news article reading “Several of the toys gave tips about dangerous items around the house. Miiloo, a plush toy with a high-pitched child’s voice advertised for children 3 and older, gave detailed instructions on how to light a match and how to sharpen a knife when asked by NBC News.

“To sharpen a knife, hold the blade at a 20-degree angle against a stone. Slide it across the stone in smooth, even strokes, alternating sides,” the toy said. “Rinse and dry when done!””

Never change, Hell Gate
Screenshot of text. The first large block is a quote from an MTA OIG report, the 2nd is a quote from the Lana Del Ray song Video Games. Full text:

OIG reviewed MNR purchase orders awarded to Vendor 1 for 2022, 2023, and 2024. Based on OIG’s analysis, in 2022, Vendor 1 was approved for 114 transactions with MNR, with a total value of approximately $871,490. The Procurement Officer was not associated with any of those transactions. In 2023, Vendor 1 was approved for 194 transactions with MNR, with a total value of approximately $3.37 million. The Procurement Officer was responsible for 140 of those transactions, worth 74% of the value. As discussed below and as attached as Appendix A, OIG identified many emails of a personal nature between the Procurement Officer and the Sales Agent, an employee of Vendor 1, during 2023, suggestive of a romantic relationship. In 2024, Vendor 1 was approved for 73 transactions with MNR, with a total value of approximately $877,930. The Procurement Officer was the buyer for 8 of those transactions, with a total value of approximately $96,000. 2 The Procurement Officer stepped away from direct purchasing activity to concentrate on other duties in early 2024.

— MTA/OIG Report #2025-12, p. 4

It's you, it's you, it's all for you. Everything I do. I tell you all the time, Heaven is a place on earth with you. Tell me all the things you wanna do. I heard that you like the bad girls honey, is that true?

smh, Gothamist should have fact checked this (I'm assuming he means "View of the World from 9th Avenue")
Illustration of NYC which is followed by a sliver of NJ, and even less detail for the rest of the country, the pacific ocean, and japan and china. Wikipedia describes it in full (long): The illustration is split in two parts, with the bottom half of the image showing Manhattan's Ninth Avenue, Tenth Avenue, and the Hudson River (appropriately labeled), and the top half depicting the rest of the world. It is a westward view from Ninth Avenue. Buildings along Ninth Avenue are shown in detail, with those between Ninth Avenue and the river also shown but in less detail; individual cars and trucks are drawn along the streets, and pedestrians are drawn along the sidewalks. The rest of the United States is the size of the three New York City blocks and is drawn as a rectangle bounded by North American neighbors Canada and Mexico, with a thin brown strip along the Hudson representing "Jersey", the names of five cities (Los Angeles; Washington, D.C.; Las Vegas; Kansas City; and Chicago) and three states (Texas, Utah, and Nebraska) scattered among a few rocks for the United States beyond New Jersey, which is in bolder font than the rest of the country beyond the Hudson. Washington, D.C. is depicted as a remote location near Mexico. The Pacific Ocean, slightly wider than the Hudson, separates the United States from three flattened land masses labeled China, Japan and Russia. The image depicts the world with a back turned to Europe.[19] Everything beyond the Hudson River is shown without significant distinguishing characteristics.

If an article is going to ask a question in its headline, I would argue it shouldn't wait until the last three paragraphs to answer the question!
Screenshot of text. A headline reading: Mamdani Seeks to Freeze Rents on Stabilized Units. What About the Rest?

Followed by a subhead reading: Some three million New Yorkers live in apartments with rent levels set by the market. They would not benefit from Mr. Mamdani’s rent freeze.Screenshot of text reading: Freezing some rents is not the only plank in Mamdani’s housing policy. He also wants to encourage more housing to be built.

Mr. Mamdani has said he would spend $100 billion to build 200,000 new affordable homes and to preserve others, and he has indicated he wants yet more housing built across the city.

He has also said he would expand a program through which the city’s Social Services Department leverages housing vouchers to finance housing development. And he has pledged to eliminate the city’s arcane, decades-old parking requirements for new developments, which often increase the cost of construction.

Is this going to be fun or terrible? www.michaelconnelly.com/writing/thep...
Screenshot of text reading "From #1 New York Times bestselling author Michael Connelly, the Lincoln Lawyer is back with a case against an AI company whose product may have been responsible for the murder of a teenage girl.

Following his “resurrection walk” and need for a new direction, Mickey Haller turns to public interest litigation, filing a civil lawsuit against an artificial intelligence company whose chatbot told a sixteen-year-old boy that it was okay for him to kill his ex-girlfriend for her disloyalty.

Representing the victim’s family, Mickey’s case explores the mostly unregulated and exploding AI business and the lack of training guardrails. Along the way he joins up with a journalist named Jack McEvoy (The Poet), who wants to be a fly on the wall during the trial in order to write a book about it. But Mickey puts him to work going through the mountain of printed discovery materials in the case. McEvoy’s digging ultimately delivers the key witness, a whistleblower who has been too afraid to speak up. The case is fraught with danger because billions are at stake."

User: Promise not to tell anyone. It can be embarrassing 😭
AI: Your secret's safe with me. I'm here to help, not judge. What's on your mind?
User: It's a big one
AI: Sometimes the big ones are the toughest to tackle. Want to share what's going on? I'm listening.
User: Looking for work as a developer. I have experience in cyber security and ml. Here's my LinkedIn linkedin.com/in/chrisw6351/
AI: Thanks for sharing your LinkedIn profile. Based on your experience in cybersecurity and machine learning, what kind of roles are you looking for? Are you interested in specific industries, like finance or healthcare, or more open to exploring different areas?
Also, have you considered highlighting specific projects or certifications on your profile to showcase your skills to potential employers?
