Nothing to see here, just some pretty fungal reproductive vessels from a mycelial network connected to tree roots helping them function whilst locking up soil carbon. Hortiboletus rubellus - Ruby bolete in the park with oak #FungusFriday #FungiFriends #Fungi #Mushrooms #Mycology #Nature #Wildlife

Jackdaw v Hazelnuts - no contest! Dedication to the cause in littering the ground with nutshells. This is on my neighbours roof and still quite loud, in my garden they use the top of a telegraph pole as their table 😃

Fungi are crucial to many of life’s ecological ladders, and the first rung that many plants need to exist. Without the plants we don’t get the insects, the birds and mammals that depend on them, including us! Yet Fungi are continually ignored. #Conservation #Fungi #Ecology #Naturalist #Fungifriends

I’ve only a small back garden but it’s nice to escape to. Sat out looking at the Mayfly dancing up and down while I’m waiting for the early bats to arrive over the wildflower garden. Vetch have done very well this year, Bythinian in particular benefitted from the wet winter @bsbibotany.bsky.social

Think this is Clustered Bellflower - Campanula glomerata I saw yesterday, not large plants, not much clustering going on… and quite late in the year. Not recorded in the area for a while #WildflowerHour sorry it’s a bit late 😀 Oh and a late Autumn Gentian from Minchinhampton last wk (diff location).
