Ok, so you live in a dreamworld. If the the governements in the west are at all competent in running supply chains and doing what business does at this time, then god help us, we will starve. Thanks for your time.

Politics imposes hierarchy.

simon--55.bsky.social @simon--55.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
That is really not true at all. The only question is whose hierarchy is in place. In the centre there is more tolerance than the far left or right. I agree with a lot of the posts you have made. Unregulated capitalism is bad news but just for example, what about small business people?

Removed and replaced by another hierarchy. Human nature, left or right.

You have it backwards, the people would not get the power in the first place. I am saying that all extremes will have a vanguard of believers who form the ruling class because of the purity and adherence to their thesis. If you are a bit more central, the tent will be closed to you.

There is nothing authoritarian about your claim. I just don't agree that the far left is any more democratic than the far right.

simon--55.bsky.social @simon--55.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
In theory, but in practice the further you go the more authoritarian it gets, both ways.

Perpective. Upbringing. Education. Everyone sees things differently. Both left and right rush to authoritarianism.

Arguable, as historically the UK has been very aligned with the US. (Politically, not the people so much)

But can we at least start to process our own minerals? Manufacturing makes way more jobs.

The past ain't the future, let's see if if the next step is manufacturing/processing.

simon--55.bsky.social @simon--55.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
Perhaps Canada can begin the process its own minerals instead of just exporting them? Our aerospace industry has to import most of its Aluminum and Stainless steel sheet. Build a rolling mill!

Starbucks trades at over 50 times p/e so a $1 raise for 400k staff would lose value of $20mm of share value. Its not income, its wealth being protected. Much harder to deal with, as this thinking is mestasticized in the wealthy mindset. This is not always the case but not far off.

simon--55.bsky.social @simon--55.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
Lets say he made 5000 times and salary was $18/hr. If you divide the annual result by nearly 400,000 workers, you get a measly $450 raise if the boss gets nothing. The reason that employees of publically traded companies get shafted is the multiple of earnings issue.

Carney is addressing our sovereignty and economics, which rank highest for him. Doing nothing like Trudeau does not pay for healthcare or roads or security.

simon--55.bsky.social @simon--55.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
Not buying that. Capitalism with a social safety net and political donation rules and fair taxation rates would work. We have oligopolies not capitalism, btw.

If tax revenues increase, and royalties increase, then more $ go into prov/fed coffers, which is good for infrastructure and healthcare. The next step would be jobs in manufacturing IMO. It evolves...

simon--55.bsky.social @simon--55.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
We will see. There is more going on than just resources, but for sure, jobs are what is needed. I want to see Aluminum rolling mills and basic steel mills,so that processing our resources is done here.

LOL. 20 years of doing nothing, now comes the complaining. From the left, everything looks right. From the right, it all looks left. From the centre, it looks like 70% approval...just sayin'..

simon--55.bsky.social @simon--55.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
I agree with that. While still low, at least more business will produce more taxes and royalties. I do wonder how many jobs come from resource extraction and pipelines. We need manufacturing, hopefully that comes later.
