Le gouvernement propose de pouvoir éviter les évaluations environnementales pour les grands projets économiques. Ces évaluations sont pourtant essentielles afin de minimiser les impacts sur l'environnement, la santé humaine et la biodiversité. 📷 : J. Corbeil-Walsh

Lots of good memories of CSEE meetings, but here are two with pictures: 1) the trad music in Saint-Boniface at #beepeg23 where I danced with colleagues and 2) view of the lake Massawippi in early morning during a trail run organized by Dominique Gravel and Victor Cameron in 2026! #SCEECSEE20

Rediscovery of the greater chestnut weevil by community science observations. This specialist seed predator of the American chestnut was thought to have been extirpated by the collapse of its host in the 20th century because of introduced plant pathogens. #coextinction www.cell.com/current-biol...

Also at the poster session, Malo Archambault is presenting on the impact of urbanization on 🌱 taxonomic and functional diversity using a large collection of community surveys from northeastern North America. He is showing that geographic distance among sites affects the patterns. #CSEE2025

At the #CSEE2025 poster session, go and see @sufflox.bsky.social poster on the conservation genetics of Jaccob’s ladder (Polemonium vanbruntiae). 🌱 She’s interested in measuring the extent of clonal structure in population using genomics.

You have to come and see the talk of @jeromeburkiewicz.bsky.social that will test if urbanization affects natural selection by pollinator on flower shape. #CSEE2025 It is at 11:00 in Rivière Coaticook

Today at the #CSEE2025, I’ll be presenting results from former PhD student Marion Leménager. She tested the hypothesis that pollination generalists should have greater diversification rates in islands ecosystems. 🧪 🕔 Lac Megantic, 5 pm

#CABQ2025

Br. Liogier made nice contributions to the Gesneriaceae of Hispaniola. He described Gesneria quisqueyana and G. sylvicola in the 70's. They were put in synonymy (G. viridiflora), but we showed using morphometrics and genetics that they are distinct species. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.12705...

I really appreciate the work put in some herbarium specimens. Here Brother Alain Liogier added a colour photograph on this paratype of Gesneria quisqueyana from 1968. It helps to appreciate the form of the flower, likely pollinated by bats and hummingbirds.
