There's a scam going around. The spoofed numbers say Embassy (or Consulate General) of the Republic of Korea. Don't answer it. The phone numbers look legit but aren't. They don't leave messages. If you pick up, don't give them any personal info. They're targeting new immigrants.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

The tiresome online discourse around translations makes it pretty clear that many people still have a very facile view of what a translator does or ought to do, that translators should be slavishly literal and strive to be invisible and as normative as possible. They think monkeys can do this job.

I wish people mentioned sources for BTS pics at least in some way (just "bh insta" etc. would be fine), because these days if a photo looks too crispy and nice and there's no source, I assume it's either 1) AI 2) AI-enhanced or 3) by a fansite and I will not interact. So please, sources, people! 🙏

Top row, from left to right:
First picture is of glowing bioluminescent waves. Second is of an espresso machine making coffee. Third is of Jimin, his dark hair quite long, orange-ish background, he's wearing a grey shirt, looking cute.
Second row, from left to right:
Water droplets in the air. Children's sand toys on sandy beach, there's a bucket, a shovel and moulds in the shape of a crab, seahorse, clamshell and a fish. A pastry display with cupcakes in it.
Third row, from left to right:
Long haired Jungkook, leaning to look, with a surprised expression. Iridescent colouring, with pinks, purples, blues and greens on a pearly white background. An image of the depths of the sea with some rocks and fish, sunrays coming through the surface.

An image with blue background showing the silhouettes of a hockey player, a figure skater and a barking dog. There are also fun little cartoon images scattered around like a burger, a trophy, a heart and a yellow exclamation point.

⛸️ EMOTIONS ON ICE ⛸️ • ice hockey player!JK x figure skater!JM • enemies to friends to lovers 🔞 • coming of age • angst with a happy ending • chapter 1 of 9 🔗 archiveofourown.org/works/636673...

White text on black background saying:
"You do realize it's okay to be angry sometimes, right?" Jungkook cracks open the can, taking a slow sip. "Or to show any kind of negative emotion in general."

A scoff escapes Jimin before he can stop himself, and he throws Jungkook's bruised knuckles a pointed look.

"And I guess you know all about showing negative emotions."

Jungkook follows his gaze and lifts an eyebrow.

"Would you look at that—" His lips curl into a grin. "He can talk back."

Or:

A story in which ice hockey team captain Jeon Jungkook (loud, rich, popular—and maybe a bit of a jerk) and figure skater Park Jimin (quiet, working two side jobs, and having one friend in total – two, if you count his dog) are about to slip and slide into an unexpectedly intense senior year.

A 3 by 3 moodboard with images of Jimin, Jungkook and ice skating themed things.

I saw this on reddit and thought it was very well said and that we should all just stop being assholes to each other. Fanfic writing is about community and supporting each other, and I'm thankful for whatever words you give me to enjoy 💗

A reddit post with the text:

To the authors who don't finish their multi-chapter fics before posting them...

I just wanted to give a shout-out and say thank you.

I know a lot of people say they will only read completed works and that's fine, everyone has their preferences. But I'm very grateful for those who post early to share however much they've currently written.

I recently read a very wonderful, well-written and most likely abandoned fic (it hasn't updated since 2019). 6 chapters and every one of them had me wanting more. Even if I'll never see another update, I am happy with what was there.

I'm thankful that the author had posted what little they wrote so that I could still experience it, even if it will never be finished.
