I cannot recommend enough that you read "The Will to Change" to see how it plays out through the album, but I will go through the lyrics to explain how it resolves the big question of the album: how a man and woman can love each other in patriarchal society.
"Do you know what it is? To give yourself up/ To meet the abyss/ With your face turned to the sun/ To feel small/ To be in awe/ Of something" The lyrics almost pose this as a riddle, and the answer to what she describes is an ego death. It's a surrender of one's sense of self and preconceived ideas to gain the ability to turn inward and regain a sense of curiosity and wonder [Rothko]. This is presented as step 1 in Paris' true love remedy.
