I was so excited at the time but then I got tired and forgot our esteemed rare-but-annual visitor made an appearance: the sandpiper. always an unexpected treat! #birds

a spotted (I think) sandpiper walking & chirping along the top of a log that is raised above a green pond.

an osprey flew over when we were at the park, but there's no hunting there...they were probably going to our house to fish in the pond. ah well #birds

my "stylist" tried something new but I haven't been able to photograph it because of my wrist injury and because it doesn't really come across in photos lol. anyways, living my crustpunk fantasy I guess

awkward selfie of the right side of my head showing short brown hair short on the side and log on the top & back.

same but on the left side and an even worse photo.

I also tried to get this guy in action, while scooping up bugs in the air above the meadow. dunno why I bothered 😅 #birds #PhotoFailFriday #WorstBirdPic

last month I visited the park with the meadow to see if I could spot a bluebird on the wire, their favorite spot. but someone else had snagged it and wasn't going to share #birds #hummingbirds

last month I saw the 2nd round of lake nest babies before they left! it was really lucky, because I didn't think I'd get to meet them. #birds

an osprey saved my life. I was determined to go for a walk the long way round the lake even though my body wasn't up for it, but when I got to the lake there was an osprey waiting for me down the SHORT way. so I went that way and still felt terrible BUT I didn't die attempting the long way! #birds

BIG NEWS! HUGE! my partner reports that there are NEW BABIES in the green heron lake nest, the same one that already fledged 5 babies in June! it's practically a green heron factory. can they nest twice in a season? (photo from 1st set of babies) #birds

my partner is embarrassed because he thinks it didn't turn out well (there was too much liquid because the gluten free cake mix is less than a regular box) but it tastes AMAZING and I think it's impressive for a first attempt of pineapple upside down cake for my birthday! SO MUCH SUGAR 🫨
